I was looking for a good curry house, and on your recommendations ordered a take away from The Mangla...and got food poisoning! The naans were like bricks, the curry was awful, and they bought the wrong rice. Total rip off! We were all ill off 4 days. My advice is steer clear.

You know…I thought this yesterday.

Both posts, one slagging off the fez and one the mangla, struck me as somebody registering just to have a dig at things they know are popular, and knew would get a wind up. Am I right?

you only have to dive past early evenings and see all the black cabs parked outside,if the asian taxi drivers use it then it has to be good food, and how barbie and ken can slag off the naan breads is beyond me..first time i saw one i thought the waiter was bringing a clean table clothe it was that big:)

I had a couple of bad experiences last week. Kormas so hot they were inedible x 2. Then we rang to order a delivery, it didn't turn up. They apologised and gave us our next order free. It's been fine since.

Must have been a new chef or order taker to mess up like that.

Must say, I'm more of a kashmir fan myself - the mangla always serve everything HOT, no matter what you order! Still had excellent food in the past at both places...

Only been to the mangla once. The waiter came with the food, he said vindaloo looking expectantly at me. I said 'no i ordered a madras', He said 'yes yes thats right madras' and put the same dish down in front of me. A little hot but very good all the same, though I felt it the next day. I prefer the kashmir it's got a great atmosphere.

I also think the Mangla is pretty poor. I might be in the minority but my vote counts!

In actual fact, decent Indians are few are far between in Sheffield.

Mangla's gone downhill, resting on reputation their curries are average in my humble no nowt about it but will opine anyway. Go to Marcia's down the road for some don carribean food, curried mutton and rice, peas and salad all for less than a blue note. Yep.

Fez Club's by far one of the best venues in Sheff as is Element / po na na. That's a fact by the way and not up for discussion :D

To the best of my knowledge - only Nirmals is actually an Indian run place - the rest are Pakistani or Banglashi run.

There was supposedly a Tamil place selling southern Indian food on Abbeydale rd that was briefly open - but that didnt last very long.

I reckon a veggie Indian Thali place would do really well in Sheffield.
