I've just read in the Guardian online about plans for the London Olympics. They are planning to concrete over Manor Gardens allotments to form a huge concourse between stadia. The developers claim it's OK because they will 'reinstate' the allotments afterwards. Tell that to the crested newts currently occupying the site.
There is an online petition at www.lifeisland.org
If you feel strongly about allotments then sign the petition to show how important they are to us. Given the Government's reaction to petitions it probably won't have much effect but at least it will show support for those unfortunate people who are to loose all those years of hard work.

If you want to go straight to the Government's petition website then go to
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/manorgardens/
rather the one in the previous message which takes you to the allotment website

I have already signed this petition, thanks for putting it on the Forum, I would have done but did not know how! However I did give the details out at the last FED meeting.

As much as I agree with the petition dont you think it is a lost cause you are never going to stop the progress of the building work for the olympics it is a no go for me and signing the petiton is just a waste of time Seb will win

Quite right Kim... well said.
This give-up attitude won't get us anywhere. We're just rolling over to be kicked in the nether regions yet again. We do still technically live in a democracy though appreciate it doesn't always seem that way. But then again we've all got a vote...
