Whilst in John Lewis today - where 3 balls of Rowan Tapestry happened to fall into my basket (with a free scarf pattern) but we wont talk about that - I picked up the latest lesson leaflet. We have missed a few already Im afraid. It looks like Lucy is the only one doing lessons now (does that mean that Helen has gone) and they are Saturday mornings 10.30-11.30. To book call 0114 2768511 ext 4428. The lessons are as follows:

17th Feb - learn to crochet
24th Feb - cables and bobbles
24th March - Finishing techniques
31st March - Backwards knitting (i.e. keeping the right side facing you every row - esp good for fairisle apparently)
7th April - further crochet (more stitches, in rounds and following patterns)
14th April - knitting with colour - fairisle and intarsia
21st April - Shaping (increasing and decreasing)
28th April - beginners knitting
5th May - Further knitting
12th May - Button holes
19th May - Entrelac
26th May - Swiss darning/ duplicate stitch

Group Leader Note: Wheezy, this thread is about free lessons at John Lewis. Can we stick to the topic, please?

I was in JL (for purely non knitting related items but I just had to take a detour past it..) on saturday and was taught to knit stocking stitch without turning the work!

Thought it was going to be impossible but actually is quite easy :D

Helen has left now, (also used to do stuff at the Wool Baa) but I know that they're interviewing for a new person. Stick up a picture of the Tapestry scarf when you're done Lisa, I love that yarn, what colour did you choose?

Um its shade 172 (pot pourri - although I might have gone for rustic if they had it) and the scarf pattern is Dew (http://joyblogging.typepad.com/photos/done_2004/wavy_scarf.html) - which in the yarn shown is truely awful but it looked beautiful in the tapestry. Ive been wanting to try some Tapestry for ages so a little project is just right (not that I need a scarf). Shame about Helen going!

I think this (http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer04/PATTflick.html) is a better way to deal with naughty knitters! :hihi:
