View Full Version : What was the worst film you have seen at the Cinema
The Collector - Terrance Stamp was the one I remember took me all the time to stay awake after the first 15 minutes by 30 mins walked out.
Death in Venice -Dirk Bogarde came a close second.:(
at the time i thought pulp fiction was awful and walked out of the flicks then months later a friend said watch the video again so i did and really enjoyed it.
its obviously the type you have to watch over again
pinklady 12-02-2007, 10:10 i cant sit through pulp fiction either ....... Ive seen the 1st 10 minutes of that film numerous times ........ but never got past 10 mins!:loopy:
My worse ever film was .......... michael jacksons Moonwalker, what a bag of crap that was:gag:
bjshooter 12-02-2007, 10:11 ages ago it was click, I only have myself to go with and it gets a bit silly so don't go often.
KJ_VENOM 12-02-2007, 10:32 any of the Lords of the rings films all 3 sent me into the land of nod within 10 minutes but that means they cant be the worst films i've seen
that "honour" goes to Ghostship, A truely awful film that promises so much in the first 5 minutes then goes downhill faster than a skier with a rocket up his rear end
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0288477/
bjshooter 12-02-2007, 10:36 Fell asleep all the way through Harry Potter too, god it was boring
Merry_Legs 12-02-2007, 11:15 I eventually walked out of Meet the Feebles, not so much in disgust but utter boredom.
Dreamgirls is a close second.
Felini Satiricon (spelling). Directed by an Italian I think. Gaumont, November, 1970
Vasquez Rich 12-02-2007, 16:53 Caravan to Vaccarres... yawn..
I used to work in a cinema when I was doing my A Levels, so I've had to sit through some God-awful films. The one that sticks out in my mind particularly is the abomination of a film based on the Super Mario Brothers Game. It 'starred' Bob Hoskins and some other bloke whose name escapes me at the minute. Truly, truly dreadful.
Of the ones I've paid to see, 'Until the End of the World' is one of only two films I've ever walked out of (the other was 'Star Wars', but as I was only 6 at the time, that probably doesn't really count :hihi:) .
I agree that the last Harry Potter film was spectacularly dull too. Very disappointing. Another case of the best bits being confined to the trailer.
EDIT: 'The English Patient' was a film I almost walked out of.
anlabystreet 12-02-2007, 18:44 lost in translation was the most boring ,mundane, banal, yawn inducing and time wasting film ever....even worse than harry potter
Hitchhikers - dull boring and not a patch on the BBC series (radio or TV).
VillageElder 12-02-2007, 19:30 Exorcist II - The Heretic. A couple of friends and I went into Rotherham one evening to see a double bill of The Exorcist and Exorcist II. I'd seen The Exorcist a couple of times and read the book. Brilliant film. Then come Exorcist II. We lasted tenty minutes before I turned to my mates and said, "Beer?" Five minutes later we were in the pub. The worst film I have ever seen. The third film, and proper sequel "Legion", is also a bloody good film. Exorcist II should never have been made.
Sam-sung 12-02-2007, 19:31 Seven was the worst film for us, luckily we ended up getting "Interrupted Performance" tickets and used them to go and see "Jumanji", which we enjoyed.
upinwath 12-02-2007, 21:15 toss up between blair witch and resevoir dogs.
Both were total tosh and I walked out of the pair.
KJ_VENOM 12-02-2007, 21:20 I used to work in a cinema when I was doing my A Levels, so I've had to sit through some God-awful films. The one that sticks out in my mind particularly is the abomination of a film based on the Super Mario Brothers Game. It 'starred' Bob Hoskins and some other bloke whose name escapes me at the minute. Truly, truly dreadful.
is the name your thinking of Dennis Hopper?
he gave an interview and said his young son asked him why did he star in that film? he told his son he did it so he could buy him shoes to which his son replied "i dont need shoes that bad" out of the mouths of babes :hihi:
The Aviator without a doubt.
LOL I'd actually forgotten that Dennis Hopper was in that film! No, it was Bob Hoskins' side kick I was thinking of. I've just looked it up on IMDB, and it was John Leguizamo.
crowefan 12-02-2007, 21:29 I saw HANNIBAL RISING
walked out
pattricia 12-02-2007, 21:33 Most boring film "Reds" with Warren Beaty and Diane somebody or other. I think he was going through his "intellectual" stage at the time. I walked out after 30 mins. The film I was gripped in my seat with was "One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest" Fantastic is the word. I like Jack Nicholson in anything.!!!!
CherryNicole 12-02-2007, 21:34 Miss Congeniality
The only good thing about it was that dress Sandra Bullock wore, she looked ace in it
Got to agree about Lost in Translation.
I would add Flowers in the Attic and the Godawful Avengers remake. I walked out of that one - and I was on a plane at the time.
pattricia 12-02-2007, 21:35 I saw HANNIBAL RISING
walked out
Yes, it got very bad reviews in the Daily Mail. Glad I read the reviews first.
It's a close call between Superman IV, Moonwalker and Rancid Aluminium. All were dreadful, but I think I'll have to go with Moonwalker as the ‘winner’. I had to pretend to like it so I didn't disappoint my Mum and Dad, going to see it was a birthday treat. They knew though :).
Maybe Baby.... even my ex, who wanted to see it in the first place, fell asleep half way through it... pure and utter crap.
I wanted the missing moments of my life back after going to see that.
EdnaKrabappe 12-02-2007, 23:06 Mine was pret a porter. Wonderful sleep though.
Also I found Malcolm X extremely boring but I was only 20 at the time and desperate to get some beer down my neck. A group of us had gone (hungry) to the 7 ish showing... at 1/4 to 11 we came out of the cinema starving and short of beer. That may have had something to do with it.
Can't believe someone has said Se7en!!! (perhaps my third most favourite film!)
Just shows we've all got different tastes
carcrash 12-02-2007, 23:10 The new King Kong. 3 hours of drivel
plekhanov 13-02-2007, 07:20 Matrix Revolutions - a horribly pretentious, dull dull film which is awe-inspiringly bad on so many levels.
Kidulthood. Saw it at the Showroom at a special screening for teenage students. It was continuous sickening gratuitous violence, with no message and no redemption. I was meant to be there in a support role, but could only manage 5 or so minutes at a time without leaving. A couple of the students were very concerned and kept coming out to sit with me and pat my hand. Complete role reversal and much appreciated. Awful, awful film.
I've only ever walked out of one film- Men In Black. To this day I still don't know how it ends.
I wish I'd walked out of Battlefield Earth though. I saw that on a tuesday and Honest (with All Saints) on the next, and both screenings had just two people in- me and my mate.
Craig7777 13-02-2007, 07:41 A beautiful mind with Russell Crowe
I fell asleep :(
LordChaverly 13-02-2007, 08:32 Three films I loathed with a vengeance are:
Life Is Beautiful
Love Actually
The Constant Gardener
Caligula also takes some beating as an awful cinematic experience.
CaptainSwing 13-02-2007, 08:52 I also can name three giant-sized turkeys that I shelled out good money to see:
The Postman with Kevin Costner (not my idea)
The Red Violin (ditto)
The Thin Red Line (the Terrence Malick film)
CorkerSWFC 13-02-2007, 09:01 The Collector - Terrance Stamp was the one I remember took me all the time to stay awake after the first 15 minutes by 30 mins walked out.
Death in Venice -Dirk Bogarde came a close second.:(
Borat the other week what a load of crap.
Beakerzoid 13-02-2007, 11:35 I thought I'd suffered bad films in the past...
Krull
Annie
Churchill: The Hollywood Years
Club Dread
But nothing could prepare me for the atrocity that is Epic Movie!!! It was the first time that I have ever rated a film as 0/10...and even that was too high! Seriously, I need counselling after watching it as i keep getting violent flashbacks!
dieselbabe 13-02-2007, 12:06 With likeing Tom Hanks films i went to see Cast Away. Well i only saw some of it as i walked out, i got fed up with watching him on a island on his own.
evildrneil 13-02-2007, 12:20 The only one I have walked out of was Very Bad Things though if we add DVDs I gave up on in disgust I would have to add Sin City! I did sit through DareDevil in the cinema and left trying to remember anything about it at all - I think my brain was probably shielding me! Hmmm any others - matrix parts 2 and 3 were both pants as was the hellraiser in space clone Event Horizon and I'm still trying to blank the Avengers movie out of my head!
SpiderPete 13-02-2007, 12:24 Seems to be a mixed bag of films mentioned, mine is:
The Village (so dissapointing)
I thought Sin City was great, as was Event Horizon (which has to be one of the scariest films ever).
Lady_Cat 13-02-2007, 13:01 Team America World Police!!
My partner thought it was fab!
I can't believe we paid to see it!!
I admit some parts were funny but it truly is worst film i seen at cinema!
I've seen soo many awful films, but I've never walked out of them. I dont know why, but I always like to stick with these films till the end even tho they're awful!
There's only one that I've ever walked out of and that was Little Man. The worst film I've ever seen!eugh! so gross and crude, it wasnt funny! i really hate the new gross out humour movies that are coming from america, where did the insane humour of monty python go?
O and there's also Yes, really really weird and this romantic comedy with John Cusack in called, Dogs(?) something about dogs and that was crap! the bit at the end when Diane Lane runs into the boat to get John Cusack is so contrived i had to dive down under the seat! eugh!
AtticusFinch 13-02-2007, 16:16 Mine is Revolver by Guy Ritchie. I'd seen the trailer and it looked like a reasonable gangster film in the style of Lock Stock, so I gave it a go. It started off well, but after 30-45 minutes descended into complete spiritual nonsense.
It turned out that the bad guy Ray Liotta thought he was working for was in fact just in his head, and we all have this person in our own head to try and impress. The two chess player allies of Jason Statham turned out to be angels who were meant to protect him. I was later told that it was meant to be a tribute to Madonna's Kabbalah religion. At the end of the film I was thinking "What?!!"
Mine is Revolver by Guy Ritchie. ...
Did you hear the Guy Ritchie interview on the Radio 5 Simon Mayo programme around the time of that film's release? Absolutely hysterical. I've never heard a bloke talk with his head stuck so firmly up his own arse  .
Ritchie - and his stinker of a film - were mercilessly ripped to shreds by Mark Kermode in his subsequent review on Radio 5. I believe the review's still online on the Radio 5 Kermode archive (complete, if I remember correctly with snippets of the interview). It stands repeated listening, which is more than I can say for the film.
I'm hoping that after 'Revolver' and the abomination of 'Swept Away', Ritchie sticks to pheasant shooting with his grisly wife at their country home, and gives up directing films for good.
EDIT: Kermode's review of 'Revolver' is on this (http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/entertainment/kermode_archive_r.shtml) page.
CorkerSWFC 13-02-2007, 17:58 we started drinking cans of lager when we went to see borat what we were taking home it was that tedious lol
magicaljen 13-02-2007, 19:04 The return!!!! worse film ever ever ever!! :@
CorkerSWFC 13-02-2007, 19:40 whos in that not that i,ll be watching it mind lol
Merry_Legs 13-02-2007, 19:48 I forgot about Voice of the Beehive.
I really wanted to like it, but found it pretty boring!
mr craig 13-02-2007, 20:11 XXX - I could actually feel my IQ dropping as i watched it.
carmencarter 13-02-2007, 20:27 Blade II ( ex partner wanted to see it, I was unbelievably bored....)

Well, basically teh film is a **** take of the Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe.. Meh, the Lucy character wasn't bad looking, and looked good in a short dress I guess.
.

Is it as bad as Date Movie? Date Movie was easily the worst film I saw in 2006, so I've avoided Epic Movie because of this.
Beakerzoid 14-02-2007, 12:30 Is it as bad as Date Movie? Date Movie was easily the worst film I saw in 2006, so I've avoided Epic Movie because of this.
Worse than Date Move....seriously....Date Movie was a Oscar contender compared to this garbage.
i saw a film called adrift it was terrible
SpeedwayDan 14-02-2007, 19:58 Well, basically teh film is a **** take of the Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe.. Meh, the Lucy character wasn't bad looking, and looked good in a short dress I guess.
.
well it was easily the worst film i've seen in a cinema, and probably the second worst film i've ever watched:(
my nephew enjoyed it though, which was the main thing.
i'll go and watch hot fuzz next week to restore my faith in cinemas:hihi:
ages ago it was click, I only have myself to go with and it gets a bit silly so don't go often.
i've still not seen Rocky Balboa if you're up for it. :)
The worst i saw has to be Shaft, couldn't get out of there quick enough (once I'd woke up). :|
Id have to say The Omen, Me n *Ryan* went to see it the day it came out and thought the way the little lad looked was hilarious, to the point our sides were aching and tears rolled down our eyes whilst tryin not to laugh out loud.
madness, not worth the money but created a memory
x
cressida 17-02-2007, 22:07 Moby Dick-who wants to watch a whale thrashing about in the sea for two hours (most probablyh a dummy whale in a huge tank anyway)
Elan Tedrona 17-02-2007, 23:19 has to be star wars episode revenge of the sith. i went through a foetal development stage. At first i was amused at the sillyness of the movie. Then i got a bit annoyed at the pathetic acting. Halfway through the film i was already tearing my head out while my dumb ass friend watched transfixed. I finally broke when anakin turned to the dark side and sat in glum resignation wondering why did i waste my money on this s$"!
The last Austin Powers film, that was awful. Can't even remember the name of it
jossyboy 18-02-2007, 20:41 there has been some good films mentioned here, borat, team america, resevoir dogs, pulp fiction. mine has to be AI. the worst film ever. EVER! way too long boring boring boring. steven spielberg "ah we'll just stick some aliens in at the end, Be reight."
balderdasher 18-02-2007, 23:32 Most boring film "Reds" with Warren Beaty I walked out after 30 mins.
I like Jack Nicholson in anything.!!!!
You walked out and missed more Jack? !! :hihi:
smileyjiver 19-02-2007, 01:41 The worst film I ever saw was Gangs of New York. Hated every minute of it, Only stayed thinking it would get better but it didn't. That was the last time I went to the cinema!
NEKRO138 19-02-2007, 10:06 Stuart Little. I went with the sole intention of pulling. It worked, but I don't know if it was worth it looking back.
Bram Stoker's Dracula.
Dire, terrible, the closest I've ever got to walking out of a cinema. Dreary gothic nonsense and some of cheesiest, campiest acting I've ever seen (Hopkins gives an even more bacon smelling performance than he does in the Lector films)...Winona Ryder concentrates so hard on her english accent that she forgets how to act...it comes to something when Keanu Reeves isn't the worst actor in the piece. Makes Bill and Ted look like high art (which it is).
Agent Gypo 20-02-2007, 11:12 Worst films I've seen at Cinema;
The Matrix 3
King Arthur
Titanic
Scream 2
I'm sure there are more but I can't think of anything else right now....

you saw titanic at the cinema? why
I went to see some British film at the flicks with a friend, thinking it should be good, the story line sounded great but it was dire.
It was called Dirty Weekend and you can read about it and look at the ad poster here in order to ensure you never waste your time in watching it:

Agent Gypo 22-02-2007, 12:23 you saw titanic at the cinema? why
I wanted to watch sproutface Dicaprio die.
Till Man 22-02-2007, 12:25 Worst film I have ever seen at the cinema:- "Blade II"
It is however acadamy award material when compared to "Battlefield Earth", the worst movie ever.
Camrat78 22-02-2007, 12:53 The only film I have ver walked on was 'Batman and Robin'. What a load of absolute tosh!
Crusader 22-02-2007, 13:27 Wicker Man.
just awful!
The only film I have ver walked on was 'Batman and Robin'. What a load of absolute tosh!
I agree. Even George Clooney in rubber couldn't save that travesty of a film.
the_mandarin 22-02-2007, 14:40 i cant sit through pulp fiction either ....... Ive seen the 1st 10 minutes of that film numerous times ........ but never got past 10 mins!:loopy:

Pulp Fiction? The one starring Travolta and Jackson? I thought that was quite funny. I think you should watch it fully once - you might have missed out on something really good. It is really funny when Samuel Jackson starts quoting his "pearls of wisdom" before he shoots anyone!
Casshern, at the Showroom, I've never been so bored in all my life.
Ms_Tetley 22-02-2007, 20:16 I took my daughter to see Epic movie on Sunday .. ..two hours of shear bordom :D
_Kirsty_ 22-02-2007, 20:30 Tough choice- its between Red Road (or something like that) which was in the cinema some time last year (maybe around Oct/Nov?!). Basically, it was more like soft porn (thats not the bad part about it), the storyline was absolutely pathetic. i watched it all :hihi:
Also, Ultraviolet- the only feel iv ever walked out of
bjshooter 22-02-2007, 20:30 I watched this crappy ring rip off, I have never been so bored in my life, can't remember the name, but it was about a computer game rather then a video.
I took my daughter to see Epic movie on Sunday .. ..two hours of shear bordom :D
Yeah, I mean OK I saw the trailer beforehand so I knew it would be a film which extracted teh wee wee out of other films, but to blatantly copy teh Chronicles of Narnia film, what the hell?! Disney should sue the film maker's asses for that... And that Aslo character was crap, some crappy Billy Connolly lookalike with a fake hairy chest pretending to be half-lion! Eh?!
I went to see some British film at the flicks with a friend, thinking it should be good, the story line sounded great but it was dire.

Argh! I'd forgotten about that one! It's awful!
Even worse when the book it's based on is so good - one of the sickest, most violent and graphic things you'll ever read, and really frightening.
The worst film I've sat thorugh lately was Alexander - I was sooo glad I didn't see this one at the cinema or I'd have gone comatose. How did they manage to turn such a meaty story into such a boring, endless, pointless film?
There's Something About Mary
Meet the Fockers
Shirley Valentine
purdyamos 23-02-2007, 21:33 The thread has had it's title changed.
I don't actually get to the cinema that often because i am VERY discerning, and even if a film is bad I want to get my money's worth or just laugh at it instead, to the end. The only film I have actually walked out of was Dancer in the Dark by Lars von Trier. It was up for heaps of awards, and starred Bjork, who I love (yes she's bonkers, but so am I). I've loved Bjork since the 80's and the first Sugarcubes single. I can't describe how much I was looking forward to this. And yes, the music was excellent IMO. But the film, the plot, the characters, and her acting, were abominable. Offensively so, given the premise (blind refugee from Czchekoslavakia sacrificing herself for her son. :gag: ) I couldn't even laugh smugly at it. I was watching an idol shrivel up before my eyes. I felt embarrassed. I got a screaming headache and walked out, furious.
sheffdan 24-02-2007, 09:10 Irreversible............The only film i have ever walked out of, I'm not easily shocked or offended by movies....far from it! but that film is just filth!
Walked out during Lawnmower Man, no regrets, never seen it, never want to :)
Copland wiyh Sylvester Stallone was dire.
JayneRay 24-02-2007, 16:15 Desperatley seeking Susan .................. could nevet watch that again
