Anyone know when the Christmas lights will be turned on in Castleton this year? And also, any nice hotels around there, regardless of price, to stay in for a few days?

"The Castle" is good but they recently had a fire. I don't know how badly damaged they were. They may be open again now.

Chloe, according to a website I've found the Castleton Christmas lights are switched on in 2004 on November 20th.

The castle is ok but you don't get a full English breakfast - and it's a'chain' pub.
Why not try Swiss House on How Lane. They do a fab full English and have super rooms.
The lights were turned on on 17th Nov so you missed the switch on but they look really good now anyway!!
