hi:) i own a Rhodesian Ridgback pup hes just turned 11months,
i heard that they are hard to train and are lots of work... but TBH he is absalutly brilliant, and most people i know love him to bits.
to the point.. since they are quite rare round these parts , i wouldnt mind finding some more people who have this breed, to compare notes with?

Thanks Sarah
He's beautiful - I love ridgebacks but don't know much about them and whether they're hard to train as a rule.
I think there is another ridgeback owner on here. Try doing a search for it in the pets section, there was a discussion about them and someone mentioned having one I think.
I've found two (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?p=1891768#post1891768) in one post ;)
And there is, of course, this (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=184229) dinky little girl looking for a home :)
We had a Rhodesian Ridgeback cross when we were little, she was very sweet but yes, dozy I'm afraid! She didn't always "sit" as she was supposed to and when she started barking at other dogs/strangers in the road parallel to our garden she would I not want to come back! But as I said, she had a lovely nature and was a big softie. Liked to sleep on her back too if I remember rightly... Ahhh Patsie... :hihi:
hey this is my own user name instead of mattcadddy

thanks sarah
thanks guys i have pm'd senora, ask if they want a natter?
Been offline for a while so haven't seen this thread. I didn't train my Ridgeback but she is extremely obedient. She was train with a firm hand though so I don't imagine it was easy. How are you getting along now then?
thanks for getting back to me:)
Hes comming on just need to tie up the edges, recall is so-so depends on who is is playing with:D
Don't really get to test out Polly's recall because she never leaves my side. She's like a shadow. When me and my partner both walk her he walks faster and she spends the whole walk running to me, to him, to me,etc. It's quite funny when we hide.:hihi: Suppose this is all a mixture of her protectiveness, loyalty and nervousness.
I can see from your photo how big your dog is(never seen another one to compare to Polly) Polly seems soo big and she's not slim either which doesn't help.
Hope all is going well still. :)
