I know this is a daft query but please help! I watched Horizon last night on BBC 2 and it said that there were 2 asteroids that struck the earth millions of years ago that wiped the dinosaurs out. But I watched a documentary once, and i'm sure its now part of general theory, that stated that the dinosaurs evolved into birds. How could they have if they were all wiped out?
Its been bugging me! Does anyone know the answer?!

apparently small animals/dinosaurs went underground and escaped the doom. Thus them being able to evolve I suppose.

Horizon was saying that there was another theory that dinosaurs were already doomed and facing extinction but the asteroids finished most of them off but not all.

the meak shall inherit the earth type thing.

Do you believe dinosaurs evolved into birds? I do, when you look at birds they are quite similar. I can sense some of you laughing now but when you actually think about it its true.

Only Bats and flying Foxes.

Edit:

Bats aren't rodents, they're Mammals, like humans.
