View Full Version : Image problem, what's the answer?
In Dreamweaver, I click on a small photo to go to a large one, I then F12 to check it's o.k but find the large photo has shifted to the left instead of staying central where it was saved. Why's that, and can anyone help in stopping this, please?  I use Windows XP if that's any relevance.
alchresearch 09-02-2007, 12:47 If you click on any image link, the web browser always puts it in the top left corner.
To have it in the centre you'll need to make up a HTML page with the image on, and centred.
The link would then take you to the page, rather than straight to the graphic.
Thanks alchresearch, but I did that in the first place and what I got was the page, a space where the photo should have been and a small box with a red cross in it in the top left hand corner of that space. It's at that point I linked to the photo, as opposed to the page. This got me the photo, but ,as I said, it's shifted to the left, hence my thread. So if you (or anyone) has any knowledge on how to keep the image central it would be a help. Thanks
Tried as you suggested alchresearch i.e.made html page, inserted image, centred, linked from small photo to page, F12, click on small photo, page comes up, no large photo just red cross. Thanks for your help though. This seems a very difficult question as you're the only one who has attempted to help.
Skatiechik 09-02-2007, 23:13 Post the html up.
alchresearch 10-02-2007, 10:07 If you can store your photo somewhere, I'll write up the code from you. It sounds like a simple link has gone astray to your full sized picture.
alchresearch 10-02-2007, 10:14 Ok, I've written a simple demo which should explain things. Download this ZIP file (300Kb) and you can see how linking from a smal image to a large image and a web page containing the large image differs. All have meaningful names.

No... it's just that Alchresearch provided the answer straight-away. :)
.
Thanks alcresearch, but I still can't get it to work, obviously it can be done, 'cos you've done it, however, I don't possess the expertise to see how you've done it. Therefore, I'm not able to copy what you've accomplished. I've been trying for hours to see how it's been done, but, no, it still eludes me. Thanks a lot for trying to help. That'll teach me to ask for technical help on the forum, I can't even understand instructions. Oh well, won't happen again.
alchresearch, I managed to sort the problem out . My mistake was not using a completly blank page i.e. I was using a layout table/ cell then inserting the image, plus, the image is in a folder and I wasn't addressing the folder just the image address. Anyway, the result is what I wanted, thanks. Another piece of experience acquired! I'll have a go at putting it on the site tonight.
alchresearch 14-02-2007, 12:39 Hurrah! I like to see a happy ending!
