Hi
I'm having a washing machine delivered soon and will need to plumb it in. Can anyone tell me if it is a straight forward job or is it best to have a plumber fit it?
Many thanks
Do you mean fit the connections to the EXISTING plumbing, or plumb in supply & drainage?
If to connect to existing - it should be straighforward. I sugest you connect and try while you can still SEE the connections (if the tubes are long enough). Check for leaks and THEN push the machine in & check if level.
Don't forget new machines often have a 'transit type screw' to lock the drum in place during transit. DON'T FORGET TO REMOVE THIS BEFORE USE!!!!!!!!

Hi
Yes... I meant to the existing plumbing... I'm moving to a flat where there is plumbing for a machine and I noticed some hoses under sink which I guess belonged to the previous washing machine...
Thanks for the tip on the transit screw!

Don't get a plumber in. They will charge you the earth for about 10 mins work. You should be able to figure it out for yourself. Another thing to watch out for (if it is a new washing machine), is that they now only have a cold feed pipe, as apposed to a hot and a cold. If this is the case, make sure you fit it to the correct pipe under the sink.

The instructions that come with the machine will also tell you how to connect the pipes up etc and yes it is an easy job to do yourself if all the plumbing already there.
