During the dark nights , dark mornings, cold, wet days ....Is there anyone else out there like me who put's on a little weight over the WINTER but then loses it in the summer ....Is it because we eat more at Winter or different foods??......:D

Bit o extra padding for the cold nights never hurt anyone :hihi:

I suppose for the gym-goers, it's too easy to "give it a miss" in the winter when you have to venture out into the cold instead of relaxing by the fire!

Yes. When the weather is warm I go out and walk about a lot more which knocks off the weight. In winter I'm far too nesh.

I've become resigned to this. As long as it keeps melting away in the spring, I can cope with being a bit blobby. I get SAD, and my energy levels plummet while simultaneously craving lots of carbohydrates, which isn't a great combination! I tried to keep up with my swimming regime, but had to suspend it in December because I was almost fainting in the pool. It won't be long before my get up and go gets up and comes back again. :)

I am sure that I read somewhere that putting on a bit of weight in the winter is nature's way of ensuring we survive.

I also suffer from SAD and find it especially hard to get myself motivated to do any exercise over the winter period. I do manage to get and run, but if I didnt then I reckon I would pile on a few pounds.

I eat and sleep more as it gets cold - usually put on about 1/2 a stone and then have a manic week or so in spring when I hardly eat or sleep and burn it all off!!!

I'm always surprised at how quickly the change happens in spring - it's not a gradual change at all. I suddenly feel like I've woken up.

oddly enough I appear to be losing weight this winter. Not sure if this is because Im eating better or that I dont have any cooker! ;)

I always gain weight over the winter. Checked yesterday and I've gained 7 and a half pounds! :hihi: I think its cos I never feel like going out and because I can't work I DON'T go out unless its really necessary. And we all eat a lot of soup/bread/potato's in the winter don't we? :D

That'll be the take-away pizza diet then? You should write a diet book and make your fortune. :hihi:

Weirdly, I tend to lose weight over the winter period. It's probably less bbq's and less sunny afternoons in a beer garden drinking lager and eating my own bodyweight in pork scratchings.
Also I do tend to live mostly on soup during the winter.

absolutely!!! I always say i'm going into hibernation cos it's a chance to eat nice warm comfort food and hide away under winter jumpers and trousers!!! I agree with what a few others have said about when spring comes around, you just seem to come back alive and then it's back into preparing to bare the old body for when summer comes around!!!! :hihi:

I seem to crave starchy filling foods like, potatoes, thick soups, rice puddings, and sticky toffee & golden syrup sponge puddings with custard.Thats why Ive put on weight. In Summer I love salads, but cant stand them in the Winter.

I prefer hot meals in winter... That may be a contributor...
Although my weight flunctuates on a crazy level throughout the year generally
