any one recomend a place to buy an alternator for a 1994, 320i coupe. as i have just got a reconditioned one from quarry motors and after spending quite a large amount of time and money and the garage having the old one taken off and the new one fitted only to find that the new one is just as useless as the old one. after phoning them back and getting told thats the risk with a second hand one to order one would cost around £120ish. does any one know where i can get hold of one?

But if the one from quarry motors is dead you should be able to get a refund....

they said that i had to go back to the garage to pay to have it removed then go and order a new one and pay to have it fitted. waste of time. it took two hours to change it. and i cant affored to keep taking it back

they are obliged to sell you working reconditioned parts. if the parts no good, then its upto them to sort it out. If they wont trading standards. id have a look on ebay etc and get yourself a haynes/ bentley manual and some spanners, a car that age is ideal for the diyer to get to grips with basic mechanics

If you mean Toptread, I don't think they sell alternators.

Have you tried GSF, Andrew Page or Euro Car Parts?
They are big suppliers of alternators to the trade

yes quarry motors is not like before, the brothers are too lazy and only there to count money while leaving all the work to untrain youths.
