Im currently selling my house and trying to buy elswhere. My Estate agents have convinced me to go to best and final bids, its only been on the market for 6 weeks! Theyr'e now asking me to accept the top bid (with constant sales type harrassment) by their reaction Im made to feel like Im doing something drastically wrong, I havent yet refused the offers but Im thinking maybe I should just wait, I dont feel comfortable selling as the vendors of the property I want to buy havent accepted my offer, theyre dragging their feet. Im the 2nd person to put in an offer and its higher than the other buyers. Their house has also been on the market for over 4 weeks I'd say.

What should I do??

Ive also realised I detest estate agents and can completely understand why home moving/buying is the 3rd most stressful experience after 'DEATH' and 'DIVORCE'.

hmm, lets hope your not doing it through winkworth - they did this with a house we were trying to buy - it got into an auction they rang us to ask for our final bid then said they werent doing it like that

the house got about £7000 about the asking price - we lost and the winner pulled out haha

fools!

but then again it's a minefield - we went for a house and put in the asking price at £97,995 - the seller said she would wait to see what others were doing - she was in a rush to sell to move aborad - we had the money to buy it but the others didnt and they had a chain and we didnt

anyway after a few weeks they all pulled out - her estate agent rang me and i had great pleasure in telling them where to go..

that'll teach her.

Hi the one you are going for will want to know that you have accepted an offer on yours before they accept your offer - you could speak to their estate agency explaining situation and ask if they now have a closing date for this house. Six to eight weeks is not quick I work for an estate agent and if someone has already found the house of their dreams! and they get offers in they will close the bidding or go to final offers asap. We were in that position - went to see a house fell in love with it - offered - put ours on the market on a Friday had offers on the Monday and sold it on Tuesday to get the one we wanted - also had to accept less for ours as they were cash buyers but would move as quick or slow as we required. It all depends on how much you want the house!

If the amount of money you get for your house is not the most important thing, I would look at the position the people are in and not just the highest offer, we sold last year and got told to go with the highest bidder only to realise after week of dragging there feet and taking for ever to do anything they then pulled out on exchange day!!! - just be careful and ask lots of questions on the finance side of it. Maybe if we had gone with a lower bidder it would have been alot less stressful and alot faster !!
