Got new Hanns-G model JW199D 19" wide screen Monitor. Biostar NF325-A7 running 2GB corsair Mem @400Mhz. AMD Sempron 64 3000+ and a cheap Xabre 200 64mb agp vid card. All drivers updated to date. Problem is that NONE of the resolution settings are right for this monitor. I have THREE more of these same monitors on other systems and no probs. I run them all on 1280x768 and that's perfect for me. They recommend 1440x900 but I hate it. Anyway, I can manually set, or make resolutions on everyother system I have or have built except this one. What can I do to fix this res prob??

Whats different with the other systems? can't you replace the video card with a better one?

Well the entire systems are different, but the vid card is the primary culprit I think. However, the vid card says it supports all the res that the monitor displays. So I'm still @ square one. I can replace the card but this was a budget built pc for a customer.

well, this was my first post here, and there wasn't much response, but thanks anyway. I figured out what to do. After I got to messing around I realized the monitor has light and dark spots which really mess with the eyes, so I got an rma to send it back. I'm going with a regular 19" so the problem's solved. The new Hanns-G jw199D is not as good as the old HW191. What the difference is in quality and why I don't know, but I have 3 HW191 monitors all great and 0ne jw199D and it blows.

I've just got a 17" Hanns-G monitor at work and i'm really impressed with it, I've not come across this brand before.

I installed a new Benq 22" widescreen yesterday and had a heck of a bother getting the res right. It turned out I had to download updates to my Intel video card driver to get the recommended natural resolution.

I've got that now, but it ain't 'alf small compared to what I'm used to. No, I didn't have a huge granny-type res, just one that was a teeny bit bigger and not so hard on my eyes! Yet every other res available on my PC squishes the text / images so it looks rubbish.

Would buying a better vid card solve the problem? Do they offer MORE resolutions that will work with widescreens? Worst programme of all on this new res is the one I got the widescreen for - Dreamweaver. The font is tiny, yet when I zoom in on it the type breaks up.

Not to sound stupid, but how exactly do I install a video card (it's a tower system, not a laptop)?

Solutions welcome please!! :help:

1440x900 is the Native Resolution Widescreen monitors run in, after 19" They go to bigger resolutions such as 1560x1024 (or whatever it is) if you dont want to run in 1440x900, then dont get a widescreen monitor, its that simple

My 20" runs at 1680x1050. The res was just automatically picked up...have an ATi gfx card tho.
