Anyone see the start of the new series on Sky last night :D

Was a tad upset there was no jack O'Neil but he is frozen at the moment. *sigh*

Any thoughts on the new spin off that starts next week...Stargate Atlantis.

This is my worry also and, after seeing the docu/preamble to it, I think we're in for a bit of a disappointment!

Will give it a couple of weeks though.

I too watched the one hour episode, not bad, although I am slightly baffled for the main reason that I have missed about 90% of the series, hence why I am collecting the Stargate DVD collectors magazines, hopefully I might be able to work out who is who and what is what, lol.

Great it's back, the phone's switched off and the answer machine turned down low. Stargate is back.
Atlantis? Not sure yetawhile ask me after three or four episodes. I do wish though that the alien characters they're going to meet didn't speak americanised english.
They've got a scientific adviser and an airforce adviser so it's got to be realistic hasn't it?

I have to admit that though I was interested in the series when it first started I missed the entire first series of SG-1. Which is why I am enjoying these DVD collectors things so much.
Have to wonder if Atlantis will be like that.

It seems like they have copied the format with a smart alec captain like O'Neil there.

I guess only time will tell, but I am still looking forward to the extra series.

Any thoughts about Jack being promoted to a paper pusher in SG1?

Watched a few episodes of Atlantis last nite, i thought it was really good, a good spin off to the whole build up to finding Atlantis.

All in all i think its really good, that good i had to get the rest of the seris today as i dont have sky and cant wait for it to come to 'normal tv'

Not watched the new sg1 episoded yet so cant comment may get them later in the week.

But i would reccomend Atlantis

Let's hope they have got it right when choosing the team for Atlantis, SG1 will be a hard team to live up to.

Watched the end half of the Atlantis seris last nite still very impressed ended in a true stargate ending with a To Be Continued, which are highly annoying as it takes them so long to produce a seris

How have people watched the atlantis series when it doesn't start until next Tuesday???

i downloaded it its out in america on the sci-fi channel they show the whole seris at once, u can get it off www.suprnova.org, its through sommat called bit torrent, i think its ok to d/l the seris coz the ppl who put it up just recorded it off tv to pc then posted it, check it out, there all spot on quality too

Well, watched the second part of SG1 and the new episode for Atlantis and I can say I am hooked, it doesn't look crap, it actually carries on a lot of the story, for example, the whole lost city thing, so it should be interesting to see how things develop, I can't wait for next weeks episode.

i watched the 2nd ep of the new series of stargate and half of the first one from atlantis.

will definitely carry on with stargate, atlantis looks just like more of the same with a different cast though.

Watched the new SG1 episode as well as the Atlantis one and then we watched the repeats last night..okay it is sad.

I have to say I am really impressed first impressions of Atlantis are good and the new format opens up a whole realm of other possibilities including that nice new officer Shepherd :D :heyhey:

They didn't really explain why or how they reached that conclusion or how it could work.

I thought Danniel Jackson had been doing his thing and had discovered the Atlantis address. That's a minor point what is far more annoying for me is the fact all the aliens and other civilizations all seem to speak english, sometimes with the odd word in their own language thrown in. I'll continue to watch it but I'd like to bet these 'wraiths' speak english as well, come back Klaatu all is forgiven

And, as they have now 'found' an 8 chevron dialling code, how did they manage to dial it?. The stargate only has 6 chevrons to lock!

Did anyone note aswell that the new planet they gone to in episode one of Atlantis they have a strong tea...how did Shepherd know what they meant?

Most of the planets they are visiting have been populated by humans, from different phases in our history not to mention different parts.....I guess it would be good if they spoke ancient greek or egyptian in the odd epidsode or two.

Also in Atlantis why didn't they report back about the stargate being different....like "oh the chevrons look different to our stargate and they are blue now??"

Also found out about the stargate thingy...aparently most of it was explained in the episode where Jack first got implanted with Ancient knowledge.-

Haven't seen the last couple of series of SG1, but have seen the whole of the 1st series of Atlantis and thought it was fantastic.

Well worth watching, and the Wraith are a very good G'ould style uber-baddy race.

Just found out its october....

Im halfway with season 9 of sg1 and season 2 with atlantis and it just gets better,Im not goin to let to much out but the Goa'uld have been defeated and replaced by a even harder enemy named the Ori and Ba'al is in hideing here on earth.

It starts again on Sky one In October.Just goin to settle down now and watch episode 8.

im watching stargate atlantis on C5 as i dont have sky anymore , but wen i did have sky i watched stargate sg1 up until sam carter was replicated.
i really like stargate alantis, ok its very much like stargate sg1 but enjoyable all the same.
im waiting for the time they decide to put stargate sg1 on C5 or get myself a new sky box lol

Can anyone tell me if the Stargate series is any better than the dreadful film of the same name? It's one of the only movies I've ever walked out on.

The Stargate series is a quality program. If you've never seen it before, i recommend you get the very first episode and watch it from there.
Once you get to know the characters you'll be laughing/crying and sitting on the edge of your seat in anticipation every time a new episode comes on :thumbsup:

Me too! The Ori are developing nicely. At first I thought "Oh, just another Go'ald style race - Yawn!", but the way it is panning out is excellent.

Loving the new team structure too...Ben Browder is a fine addition to the cast (here's hoping we see more of Claudia Black too).

Only drawback now is that they are on a mid season break in the US at the moment, so I've gotta wait for more espisodes! Grrrr!

I honestly didn't know about the Claudia Black appearance - It was bizarre - I'd only just finished thinking that Ben Browder looked like he could do with Aeryn turning up, and suddenly there she was!! Loved it!

All they need now is for Tia Carrere (Relic Hunter) to turn up to rescue them..... those puzzles look tailor-made for Dr Sydney Fox to fix! :)

These sci-fi programmes are just getting SO incestuous.... long may it continue!

Well I have, last night, finished watching season 1 of Stargate: Atlantis, I didn't get much chance to watch it on Friday`s night on C5 as I always seem to get dragged out for a few drinks :gag:

Must say it was very watchable, esp the latter 6 or 7 epsiodes building up to the Wraith invasion, I wasn`t dissapointed, and then it just finished on a big cliff-hanger :(

I feel like the Wraith now... need feeding with season 2 :thumbsup:

Stargate is also lookin good, I think C4 are onto season 8, Cladia Black was in the last one, liked her in Farscape... but thats another thread :thumbsup:

I've recently got in to Stargate : Atlantis - doing teh suual Sky thing of following two series at once... :)

Waiting for the resolution of the pre-Christmas cliffhanger with Shepherd being taken out of the cell by a Wraith who looks liek he fancies a midnight snack. :)

And just watched the start of the new series of Battlestar Galactica - looking good again!

And tomorrow night, I think, there's Threshold.

I found the first seris of atlantis to be a bit slow to start.. But I can quite honestly say that I look forward to each episode now with equal enthusiasim to the original stargate.. We are just in the process of collecting all the box sets of each seris.. Amazon have great offers on them all at the moment, and silverscreen in medowhall have got the earlier stargate boxsets at about 20 quid each :thumbsup: that way I know I can get my Daniel jackson fix whenever I want *swoon*

I'm on sci-fi overload at the minute and loving it 8)
