My sister and I are asking eachother questions on MSN, to pass a bit of time. And shes just asked me if there is anything in my life I would change... and I couldnt think of anything!

Is there anything you would change about your life? Is so, what? Or is there anyone else out there like me, satisfied with how there life is?

I'd wipe the slate clean regarding the number of "exiles" I've had on here, then the admins would at least half consider me for "promotion" to being a Mod :D

That 10 seconds or so when I signed the piece of paper committing me to 9 years in the army - plus 2 years as a boy soldier - 40 years ago. I'd definitely chuck the pen down and say, "B0!!0cks. I'm staying on at school and taking my exams" - even though I detested it!.

Everything happens for a reason, - or so people say - whether we like it or not, whether we agree with it or not.

I don't think I'd change anything.

I've often said that me and my ex husband should have split up and divorced several years before we did but if we had have done then I probably wouldn't have met my recent ex and even now I still wouldn't have not wanted that.

I don't think I have any regrets and I don't think I would change anything.

Like I said - everything happens for a reason.

Must add that I would change the above as long as I still end up with the same wife and kids.

Wake up Rich you're dreaming.

The past makes us what we are today so I wouldn't change anything.

I'd consider changing my health problems, but since the cancer has given me so much learning, and my life has been made richer by that learning, it's really hard for me to even think that.

I would have loved to have had children though- people around me make comments about me being the most natural parent they can think of, and it makes me very sad that I never had that opportunity.

when I left school nearly 50 yrs ago I had the offer of two jobs. One was in an office and one was in a shop (C&A).
I decided to toss a coin.
I chose the latter and met my, still, best friend and in due course of the path I travelled my husband.
Although I wouldn't change anything now I often wonder where I would be if the coin had come down on the other side.

Who knows, SheShe? You might very well have still met both your best friend and your husband taking the other path, just not in the exact same way you did meet them. Some things are just meant to be. What's that lovely phrase - "What's meant for you won't go past you"

does that make me autistic?

Yes, I would have stayed on at school till I was eighteen. I just hung around cr*p office jobs, until signing up for nursing at 21. Nursing was so interesting I should have started at eighteen. Its my only regret.

I wish I'd passed GCSE Maths at School, as the fact I didn't is affecting my efforts to shut the Daily Mail readers up about me not working nowadays... :(

I'd do a resit at College if I could but between everything else I have to do in the week, I just don't have time to fit in ANOTHER College course, especially when most of the courses I saw in Choices magazine were at night.

Its the only thing that irritates me, Maths. I never could do it, and never will. I was top in English & bottom in Maths. I would rather it was the other way around.

I can do mental arithmetic almost literally with my eyes shut, but ask me to work out sums and stuff on paper and I just can't do it... Never have been able to :(

Nothing beyond basic maths anyway and definitely not complicated stuff like Pi and all that rubbish.

Pretty much everything.

The 'sliding doors' concept is an interesting one. Somewhere i think there is a wealthy, size 8 me who's had tons of plastic surgery that her wonderful, but ever so eccentric partner Tarquin invented without testing on animals. I'm a successful columnist by day and dj by night and I've been pretty much everywhere in the world. I live in a beautiful but modest house that is always clean and tidy.

Anyway back to the reality...

You may have noticed I mentioned nothing regarding friends. That's because I have lovely ones that I wouldn't change for the world even if their sliding doors take them on very different paths to mine. Nor would i change my beautiful cats.

Well thats funny Rich, because its the dead opposite with me. I CANNOT do mental arithmetic, but give me a pencil & paper ,and I can "get by" (just)

Thats called dyscalculia and I have it. :hihi:

I would change... I don't know what I'd change. I'd go to college instead of being frightened and too shy, and I'd just get on with things instead of dreaming about how things could be if I was different.

Sliding doors is a great film, and I do always think about it whenever I narrowly miss a train or a bus, or when a random event happens which changes my job or results in a new path in life - what would have happened otherwise?

lol it is....erm i think
you learn someat new everyday...even at 38

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyscalculia

especially the bit
as a genetically-linked learning disability which affects a person's ability to understand, remember, and/or manipulate numbers and/or number facts (e.g. the multiplication tables).

i am terrible at remembering numbers, even phone numbers, i can only remember about 3 numbers at a time, took me years to remember my own phone number and pin number
my mind just goes blank when confronted by numbers

took me about 3 months to work out how to do the sum we use for working out how long and for how many amps to put boards in the acid copper tanks for, i persevered and "got it" tho

Agreed I think it sadly gets overlooked sometimes as a chick flick when it's not really.

I'm terrible at numbers, I can't add, or multiply, or divide.. I have to take a calculator with me when I go shopping so I don't overspend and I can't even check my own change because I can't add it up. :(
