View Full Version : How Would You Prefer to Die?
Agent Orange 03-02-2007, 13:27 I know this is little morbid, but I was thinking about this the other day and wanted to know what others thought. If you were to die which would you prefer, die suddenly, but deprived of a last goodbye to your nearest and dearest or a slow death and lots of time to say your goodbyes etc..
I know most people would say that they wouldn't prefer to die, but it's inevitable and we are going to share the same fate at some point. Cheerful sod, aint I?! :D
I would want to die in my sleep.( not yet though) :o :)
Agent Orange 03-02-2007, 13:32 I would prefer to go suddenly, but that would be selfish lol. Although, I hate goodbyes and would no doubt fall to pieces trying to come to terms with my impending date with god so yeah, I'm gonna be selfish and deprive my loved ones a last goodbye :D
butchill 03-02-2007, 13:33 in my dreams and then I would not know I had gone and the dream would be forever
weenireeni 03-02-2007, 13:45 id also like to go in my sleep - no pain, nice last memory, and it would cause least discomfort to people i know
nice cheery thread this is! :(
I would want to die in my sleep.( not yet though) :o :)
^^^ What she said.
purple_frog 03-02-2007, 13:51 i definitely want a nice and sudden death in my older age (but not TOO old!), preferably in my sleep ... i'd hope that all my friends and family would know how much i loved them anyhoo, so there'd be no loose ends to tie up.
^^^ What she said.
You fibber you told me you wanted to die with knitting needles in your hands :P :hihi:
Agent Orange 03-02-2007, 13:53 You fibber you told me you wanted to die with knitting needles in your hands :P :hihi:
.. extreme knitting accident :D
I'm not really fussed whether it's slow or fast, for me the important thing is the lack of pain. I really don't mind the thought of death, but I'd rather it wasn't a painful death, or if it has to be painful that it's over quickly.
.. extreme knitting accident :D
you can't be too careful they can be lethal them knitting needles :hihi:
I'd like to go quietly in my sleep, not screaming in terror like the passengers in my plane. :)
cloudybay 03-02-2007, 14:16 I would prefer to die in my sleep after an evening of uninhibited rampant passion, so I guess I will end up dying in my dreams. On a serious note, if I developed a condition whereby my prognosis was negative, or I had to undergo debilitating treatment with only a small chance of survival, or more importantly, my life would exist but without any modicum of dignity and what I define as quality, then I would disappear and make my final journey on a plane to a Swiss clinic.

koenigsinger 03-02-2007, 14:31 I want my obituary to read like this......

BobbyBunny 03-02-2007, 14:47 I never want to die. :hihi:
And IF I ever die, I'd like to die in a very exotic way. Maybe, as keithhazel says, celebrating my 200th birthday with my girlfriend would be good?
:P
KJ_VENOM 03-02-2007, 14:51 aged 102 in my own private jet, with an 18 yr old girl's thighs around my neck

I'd like to go in my sleep too. I don't want my last ever thought to be "this hospital ceiling could do with a coat of paint".

Your right what a morbid thread.
rubydazzler 03-02-2007, 18:47 This is a good way to go ... Roger McGough wrote it some years ago .. it always made me smile
Let me die a young man's death
not a clean and inbetween
the sheets holywater death
not a famous-last-words
peaceful out of breath death
When I'm 73
and in constant good tumour
may I be mown down at dawn
by a bright red sports car
on my way home
from an allnight party
Or when I'm 91
with silver hair
and sitting in a barber's chair
may rival gangsters
with hamfisted tommyguns
burst in and give me a short back and insides
Or when I'm 104
and banned from the Cavern
may my mistress
catching me in bed with her daughter
and fearing for her son
cut me up into little pieces
and throw away every piece but one
Let me die a young man's death
not a free from sin tiptoe in
candle wax and waning death
not a curtains drawn by angels borne
'what a nice way to go' death
Ashcroft 03-02-2007, 18:47 i would like to die screaming, excited in or on somthing very fast:loopy:
i would like to go young enough that my wife still had time to find happiness when i am gone.
i dont want her to have nothing left to live for, if you know what i mean.
:loopy:
pattricia 03-02-2007, 22:55 When I die, I wont be wishing I had worked harder, I will be wishing I had had more holidays & more sex.!!! :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:
Some of us on the forum will already know how they are going to die, have started on the path already and have an idea of what's ahead.
Gives this thread another dimention.

Jabberwocky 03-02-2007, 23:18 A gypsy once read my palm and told me that I would die by biting my own throat out.
muddycoffee 03-02-2007, 23:41 Non of those options.
I would like to die at a great age, maybe 110, after a short illness painlessly in a bed with a smile on my face after a productive life of extremely rude health.
The wife asked me the other day.... "where do you want burying?"
I said..."On top o' thee lass".:D
Suddenly and inadvertently in the background of some live outside broadcast which is coincidentally being watched by my immediate family and close friends. It's just that it will save a lot on telephone calls.
Cliff Clavin 04-02-2007, 05:29 To die very suddenly with the following grave message on either stone or wood, "here lies ..... ..... aged .., died very suddenly but happily after saving civilization. We owe him our grattitude!"
zoboz111 04-02-2007, 05:59 slowly... so i could hopefully say good bye to everyone.
Agent Orange 04-02-2007, 09:49 slowly... so i could hopefully say good bye to everyone.
I would love to cherish my last moments and make the most of them, but I don't think I could cope knowing of my fate and besides, I hate pain so a slow death is out of the question :)
chocotiger 04-02-2007, 19:29 In my sleep
pattricia 04-02-2007, 20:02 I would like to die with a Frank Sinatra song ringing in my ears.;)
I'm going to die slowly and drag it out to make sure everybody i know suffers just as much as me :D actually I really havent given it that much thought, when it happenss it happens and I'm not going to waste my alive time thinking about it.
upinwath 04-02-2007, 20:10 The romantic version would be to go out in a blaze of glory saving a whole nursury class full of babies from a runaway lorry but given that's not on the cards anytime soon I'll have another go.
Wait until I'm about 99, Get a massive overdose of little blue tablets and die shagging a nurses home full young nubile nurses.
If I ever get to know I'm going to snuff it of something that will do me in slow and nasty style I will load my car up with fuel and explosive and get the BBC come to film me driving off scarborough cliffs while pressing the big red button.

Shot by a jealous husband at age 99 and he would not have caught me but I was very very drunk at the time
For years I thought I was going to drown, because of what a door-step Gypsy woman told me.
She said I would "end my days by water"
Well I am now a Silver Surfer!
I also live on the coast.
So she may be right after all.
AJ sheffield 04-02-2007, 21:18 Coked up in a hail of bullets as I walk out of the brothel. Either that or in my sleep.
I worked as an Auxiliary Nurse for a while in the early 80s.
The staff were chatting about the manner of death.
A Nursing Sister on the Neurology Ward told us about the most unusual death she had ever encountered.
She said a couple had both died from a brain Haemmorhage in the midst of having sex.Which meant that it was difficult to separate them. I could barely believe it, but she said it was true.Horrible though.

Two things worry me about the future.
Living for years in constant pain.
Dying a painful death.
The rest I think I can handle.

mossy 76 05-02-2007, 11:42 just let me catch mr death i gonna kick his butt not takeing me ever EVER I SAY!!!!!!!!!
StarSparkle 05-02-2007, 12:03 I've often thought the best way to go would be with a huge, massive coronary at the climax of the best gig I'd ever been to in my life - rock 'n roll!
But then my sensible side says that would be very unfair on everybody else at the venue and a right shame for the band, so I'll be boring and say "Quietly, in my sleep"
StarSparkle :)

it would probably help if I wasn't an atheist though

MissGobby 05-02-2007, 12:58 tbh im not sure how i would like to die. its quite scary - and death petrifies me anyway - so thinking about WAYS of dying makes me even more scared!!!!
my nan died last year and she died in her sleep, i think that is the best way to go, she was in no pain, wasnt ill etc. just fell to sleep.
but to me, dying in your sleep petrifies me too - i mean you go to bed thinking you will get up the next morning....and you dont!!!!! it really scares me that!!!!!! :o
Agent Orange 05-02-2007, 18:08 I would rather not die lol
I think we all would choose that option if we could :D
Jabberwocky 15-02-2010, 12:57 I want to be killed when the sun finally expands into a huge fireball and envelops the Earth, I want to be fried along with my planet.
I reckon a few billion years of life will do me nicely.
Prodigy1992 15-02-2010, 13:03 If it was painful, I would rather go quickly.
epiphany 15-02-2010, 13:15 Suddenly. Preferably implosion.

donuticus 15-02-2010, 13:50 "I'm not scared of dying. I just don't want to be there when it happens." Woody Allen.
Many a smart word said in jest.
Harleyman 15-02-2010, 17:02 Peacefully in my sleep after a long, happy and healthy life
Peacefully; like my grandad, he died in his sleep - not like the passengers screaming in his car.
