I'm using Outlook 2003, and there appear to be some sort of "ghost" messages in my outbox. Every time I send an email, it says "sending message one of 10" and takes ages to send it. But worse is that every now and then it adds another phantom message, so I'm now up to "sending message one of 12", and takes even longer to send.
My outbox shows no messages apart from the one I've just written.
Am I reading this right, and you're sending one email to one recipient, but Outlook is showing that you're sending 10?
It's sounds a bit dodgy. Have you done a full system virus scan lately?
I'll have a look at my Outlook, which I don't use on a day to day basis (prefer OE), and if I find anything useful, I'll let you know.
Could it be sending those receipts you sometimes get to show that a message has been received and/or read?

Double check on your settings for 'large files'.
It is possible to tell Outlook of a maximum size of e-mail and anything larger than that gets split into smaller e-mails. This can result in one message being split into 10 or so. Was there a large image attachment?
thanks for the suggestions. Have done a full virus scan, full spyware scan for good measure, checked mail settings, and all seem ok. Have just sent a message to someone, which has left my outbox, but Outlook now telling me "sending message 2 of 13". Aaaaaaaargh!!!!!!!!!
Guess I'll trawl tinternet one rainy day.
