It was 42 years ago today on October 5, 1962 that the Beatles released Love Me Do, their first single.

And for those of us who were around at the time, nothing would ever be the same again.

Well I wasn't around, but interestingly enough it was released in the USA on the day I was born:clap:

This year also saw the 50th anniversary of Elvis Presley walking into Sun Studios in Memphis and recording "That's alright Mama"

2 days later it was playing on Memphis Radio and the rest is history.

That was I Want To Hold Your Hand, which went to No.1 in America on February 1, 1964

Depending of which chart you believe, the first UK No.1 was either Please Please Me (Feb 22, 1963), or From Me To You (April 24, 1963).

In March 1964, the Beatles held the top 5 places in the US singles chart, and had 4 other records in the top 100. Imagine that happening today!
