Hi, I've just had the battery change in my peugeot (206cc). The thing is that the computerised/digital mileage thing on the dashboard has reset itself so it looks like it now needs a service even though I have 6500 miles until the car needs servicing again. I'm just wondering if anyone knows how I can remedy this hopefully without having to take my car into the garage. Has anyone else had this problem? I've looked in the handbook but there doesn't seem to be any advice in it. I don't know if any of the other models have the same digital mileage thingy on the dashboard or if any other cars do, any advice would be greatly appreciated. (BTW)I didn't take the car to the peugeot garage as I hate their service and think they are a total rip-off. CAN ANYONE HELP ME:confused:

I would seriously consider taking it back to where you had the battery fitted and ask then to put it right...afterall its thier fault.

Otherwise, you will have to take it to a pug dealer and pay out at least £80 ...or more for it to be done.

Did a garage change your battery, if so take it back and ask them to reset it they shouldn't charge you? Can't understand why if it has reset itself it looks like it now needs a service, do you mean that the service light is coming on? This happened to me and the garage managed to get rid of the service light indicator but I had to remember that I needed a service in so many miles time! Hope this helps.

On the dashboard there's a section that informs you of the cars mileage and also it counts down the time until the car needs its next mileage so for example the car has to be serviced every 20,000 miles and the counter before I had the battery fitted was on 6,500 so I had 6,500 miles left until I needed to book it in for a service but now it's saying 19,600 so I guess it's actually reset itself and is now indicating that it's just had a service not that it's in need of one as I've just looked in my handbook and it says the mileage will flash when it's due a service and it isn't flashing. Sorry if I've confused you, I'm confused:confused: thanks for your help:thumbsup:

Yes I am a bit confused but think I have got it now:) I think like me you will just have to remember when it needs a service and then when it has a service the counter will then get reset for the next service,( hopefully). I really don't know anything about cars and only answered cos this happened to me, I'll be an expert soon;)

Have you tried doing a web search or asking on a Peugeot forum? On my 306 I just had to hold in the trip counter while turning the ignition on.

Just because it's called a Peugeot 206, I don't think that means it's got a 206CC engine. At least, I don't think it would get anywhere too fast if it did.

That was the main thing which encouraged me to open this thread. I wanted to see what car was fitted with a 206cc engine. :o
