Can anyone point me in the direction of a free pattern for a polo neck insert? I have a customer looking for a pattern. If anyone remembers them they look like a bib with a polo neck and are the same at the back as the front. I have seen a few "neckwarmers" but this is not what she wants. I am convinced I have seen a pattern online but just can't track it down

You want to be searching for a dickie (no, really and truely). There are a few links to patterns about half way down this page.

This would be my pick as it works with any yarn.

That is just wonderful! Why is it called a dickey?????!
Thank you so much. I love the fact you can change yarn weight.

Jill,

it's called a dickie/ dickey after those false-fronted shirt/ waistcoat things that men used to wear (think "shirt-front curling-up in an old, silent film?) which were also called "dickies"

Now that makes sense. I had forgotten about those cardboardy shirt front thingies!
