Hi people, just want to ask about the old firth park school (the brushes). i have heard may stories about the suppose ghosts that haunted firth park tower. 1 of a lady who jumped off the building and 1 of a small boy who smealt of flowers, anyone know the real story ??
i went to firth park school and know of loads of stories! you know what its like, different teachers tell you different stories!
shelley1 04-10-2004, 17:14 my husband went to firth park school and he said he heard loads of stories. He said there was a boy who thought he was a vampire and did a ghost watch on halloween, dont know what the outcome was though. But put it this way nobody has seen him since.................
ONLY MESSING LOL.
PaulTansley 04-10-2004, 18:12 The recent demolition of the tower caused claimed maifestations of the boy and the construction workers went on strike as he was scaring them to death, they insisted a priest came and exocised the ghost which he did, then they continued to work.
Its to early to tell if the newly built college is haunted by the same ghosts the school had will time will tell.

Propagnda by the late Spike Johnson.
good old spike god bless ya. -former pupil.
ive just got this very good book called GHOST HUNTERS' GUIDE TO SHEFFIELD.
by valerie salim.
its the new revised addition.
and mentions all the sheffield areas and each place in that area
thats suppose to be haunted.,schools, hospitals, famous buildings, even whole estates.
and gives a good full story of why the supposed hauntings came about.
brushes-(firth park school) is mentioned with story .-dates back to the roundheads who seized the farm on the land and sold it to emanuel scorah.
in 1700 francis scorah sold it on and so on till it was bought by the booth's.
who suppose to haunt the building.
along with a school boy who hung himself.
Very interesting postings. I grew up in nearby Wincobank, but never heard the tales of a haunted tower etc. I went to nearby Hinde House, which to my knowledge has no tradition of ghost stories. Come to think of it, a ghostly manifestation of the terrifying Mr Edwards [Headmaster in the seventies] would probably be beyond the power of any exorcist, eh Cycleracer?!
there's quite a few wincobank ghost stories.
years ago some so called apparition was scaring the whole of wincobank till my grandad found out that it was an elderly man with a white sheet who was fed up with the kids nr his yard or something so he dressed up as a ghost to scare them. and it went on for months.
im not sure if this ties in with the wincobank wanderer story or not.
i remember the old large house on merton lane -we knew it as haunted house.
stood empty for years we use to play in there . id love to know the story behind that.
oh and there was also a famous wincobank ghost story about a man who boarded a bus on merton lane, when the conducter went for his fare -he wasn't there-just vanished.
i read that in a book somewhere.
Tara, who or what was The Wincobank Wanderer? I remember the old house on Merton Lane, but I don't know its background. Wincobank Hill, as a former Iron Age fort of the Brigantes [Celtic tribe] lends itself to ghost stories though. I've heard a few about people encountering apparitions there at night [probably after 10 pints of Stones' Bitter].
the wincobank wanderer story was going round in 60s but if youre 4yrs younger than nadine then you must be 5 yrs younger than me so you.d be too young to remember.
The stories i heard was of a cleaner who worked at the brushes and i heard she either fell of the building or jumped off and ever since then haunted the school. As for the boy i heard he was locked in the tower i didnt know about him hanging himself but i do know that people could smell lavender flowers and that was from the boy. When the builders was destroying the school the attempts to save the tower was actually true but the builders experienced strange things from the ghost in the tower and they got a priest to bless the tower and unfortuantly the tower collapsed shortly after but as for the college if the blessing worked then the spirit will no longer be in the new college but if not then im sure the ghost will stay, who knows.

Eek, relish the thought of the Caped Prince of darkness's ghost being there.
I believe that Edwards was there from the 1950s and even the 40s Timo but how true that is I do not know.
At least he can't humiliate anyone now.
That guy is addictive conversation and even this thread is turning into an Edwards thread :gag: .
I think we need treatment for post edwards sydrome Timo.
pitsmoor 05-10-2004, 20:25 We once stopped night in the brushes school when i was there we slept in the old library didnt see anything though. There was a deffinate smell of lavender on the english corrider every morning could have been the cleaners
Ghosts do not exist.
Human imagination does exist.
I think human imagination is true, also ghosts are true i think the only way to prove that ghosts exist is individual sighting. its something you have to prove yourself i dont think ghost will be proved within the next few years but until we actually get video evidence of someone actually having a conversation to a ghost then thats when it will be proved. who knows maybe someday we will end the investigation for spirits
