View Full Version : It’s curtains for me

I’m in trouble. Had our lounge totally re-plastered last year and I had to take the curtain track down.

The curtain track is in a bay and is held away from the window with 6 inch brackets. Unfortunately, I lost two of the eight brackets – I think they went in the skip along with a load of old plaster.

After much hunting, including simply looking in the hardware section of B&Q, I’ve found an online supplier of these brackets. Unfortunately, the recommended curtain track to go with the brackets is metal – and I do not trust my metal bending capabilities enough to do a good job. Basically, I’m after a plastic track.

I’ve tried Fabric Warehouse for extenders but they don’t sell them. I’ve tried Coles and they do sell them, but the track that goes with it will not allow a reverse bend. They can make and fit a track but I’d have to get authorisation from The Bank of England before buying it.

Anyone know of any other curtain shops that do curtain accessories? Preferably in Sheffield but surrounding area will do.

For information, here is a link to the type of bracket that I will buy if all else fails.

This may not be any help but I have a bay window and bought a curtain pole that bends so you can fit it. Really easy. It is from 'Ish' on Sharrowvale Road and cost about £60. May be do that instead. Any use?

i've got the same problem, i'd had no certains up for the last 6 months, just blinds. The cost of a certain rail for a bay window is scandalous.

try in the curtain section of atkinsons - they got me a bracket for my plastic curtain track that no one else stocked; cost nearly as much as a new track, but is easier to do than putting a whole new track up :)
they have a huge catalogue of all sorts of bits and pieces to go with curtain tracks/poles - never knew there were so many bits!!! they ordered it form somewhere and it came within about 10 days.

I want an iron pole for my baywindow, i don't like the look of a plastic track. I hear they cost about £200 though.

Try Wilkinson's. I got some a couple of years ago and did'nt have any trouble at all, they have all the different brackets and it is plastic.

How about those extending poles from Argos - they can be cut down to size, and so joined in the corners - and they come complete with brackets - they are about £10 each

Thanks for all the answers so far, and the offer of some brackets Shihtzumad. Going to try ISH and Shaw's on Saturday. Failing that, Dunelm Mills.

I'll let you know how I get on.
