In the next month or so (when the mornings are a little lighter) I intent to move (slowly) to cycling to work every day as part of an effort to start getting fit. The ride is approx 3 miles and isn't too strenous, however I'd appreciate any advice people can give on the following (on top of wearing a helmit and using lights):
1. What type of high viz gear do people recommend I wear (especially in the light that I'd like to wear it in all weathers)
2. How do people cope with getting to work after cycling then having to tidy yourself up (ie change clothes / shower etc?)

Any other advice I'd appreciate it!

A waterproof top is probably the main thing you should get, if you'll be cycling in the dark remember that reflective material is more important than a bright colour - most jackets will have strips of reflective material across the back / arms.

If you cycle in heavy rain or need wear smart clothes at work it might also be worth investing in either waterproof overtrousers or a change of trousers (leggings in winter, shorts in summer). Proper cycle shorts will be more comfortable for long journeys but aren't vital.

Unless you are caning it along or need to get up some hills then you needn't get overly hot and bothered so won't necessarily need shower facilities. If however you are trying to get fit and treat it as a work out you will! (a t-shirt made of man made material rather than cotton will be better too).

Gloves will be useful as well, especially in cold or wet weather. It's surprising how cold your fingers get in the wind even on mild days.
