View Full Version : Any 'Green Wing' fans here?
Anyone seen 'Green Wing' on Channel 4 on Friday (9.30pm)?
It's grown on me, wasn't too sure having watched the first one, but since the characters have now established themselves I'm really starting to enjoy it.
Anyone else a fan?
I like it, but never catch it much, I seen 2 now and I think its a very original piece of comedy.
It's repeated on the E4 channel a fair amount - I tend to miss Friday at 9.30pm!
I love the Green Wing - it's one of the best comedies I've seen for years actually! I usually hate stuff set in hospitals so this show was lucky to catch me in an open-minded Friday-night-with-bottle-of-wine moment...
It's nowt like I was expecting it to be!
I thought the first one went on a bit - I was quite surprised when it turned out to be longer than half an hour - but I think that's just because the idiosyncratic style takes a little getting used to. But once you've adjusted, the strength of the writing really comes through. And of course, it's tremendously funny. :hihi:
Phanerothyme 04-10-2004, 13:10 I think the high point of hospital comedy has to be "let the blood run free" with those memorable characters
Dr Richard Lovechild
Dr Ray Good
Nurse Pam Sandwich
Nurse Effie Shunt
Warren Cronkshonk the hopsital orderly
and (evil cackle) Matron Dorothy Conniving Bitch
[in unison] "to the operating theatre!"
Haven't actually watched Green Wing yet.....must resist TV
[edit] corrected the names of the characters
Damn that show was good, wonder if its available on DVD.... (wanders off to look)
ncrossland 04-10-2004, 13:21 It just tickles my sense of humour in the right place, especially the nervous doctor with the mustache who's having the affair with the administrator. Every line he says cracks me up. As did rubbing his bottom on the IT guys desk.
I've seen every one and rate it as one of the funniest, if not the funniest, things on TV at the mo'. The scene where Simon(?) used his extendable pointer to make a point and projected his glasses across the room - classic slapstick.
Ah good... glad to see I'm not the only one who's a fan
The moustached guy and his freaky blonde admin lady... :gag:
There's also the psychotic personnel woman who also plays a slightly less psychotic beautician in Barry & Carrie on BBC1 on Friday.
my dad despises the green wing but i think it's ace its weird and i like that in a comedy show!
the scottish women (forgot her name) is ace! every scene shes in is wicked :)
I like it, but the wife cant stand it. Cant understand why, its great.
i like it, the joke bout the baby and bouncy castle was hilarious. Very good entertainment.

Now that was a show... Having trouble remembering why i used to be up so late watching channel four... and what was all that smoke doing in the room...
I think it's great. I know a lot of people who don't like it though. Some people can't find something funny unless it contains canned laughter! Which I have never understood. If something is funny you shouldn't need prompting to laugh at it. I blame the Americans :)
emmwalker 08-10-2004, 10:38 green room is fantastic, although like others do tend to miss it- hopefully it will be repeated mid week soon? also agree that the scottish bird is superb, and cant understand why the majority if folk i have spoken to dont like this programme??? wierdo's!
Don't forget people - Green Wing is on at 9.30pm Channel 4 tonight. It's also repeated at 0.10am on Saturday.
beansforyou 12-10-2005, 20:10 I was going to post a thread starting ' Who misses Green Wing?' then I found this old thread....
So....
Who misses Green wing?
I can't believe they haven't done a second series, it was one of the funniest series ever made IMO, and I haven't even seen it on dvd either :shakes:
Kristian 12-10-2005, 20:21 I watched a couple and then for some reason missed the rest. It really was laugh out loud funny from what I remember! :D

They have done a second series I believe it has all been filmed, due for broadcast early 2006
Does anyone know when the 1st series is coming out on DVD?
It seems to be taking ages to release it!
meumeu77 13-10-2005, 18:36 I'm eagerly waiting for the second series! Can't wait!
