If you speak Korean, is it possible to translate the word "nula" for me? Nula.com appears to be registered to a Korean chap who wants $1000 for it. We just need to know what it means and whether it is worth buying for our client or not.

Any clues?

I just put it into several online translaters and it said there was no translation for the word nula. Maybe it's a name or an anagram of something.

I've tried translators, hence my asking here for a natural speaker.

The problem is I can't get a translation for "nula" as I only have it as a phonetic in Korean, and don't know which characters to sue (If I had installed the Korean Language Pack).

It's probably some grossly offensive sexual slang, which is why we want to know what it means and why a Korean business thinks it is worth a bit.

It might all be a total red herring, and the client might not even choose the name, but we don't want them to choose it if it means haemmorhoids (or worse) in Korean.

I'd suggest it is probably a popular name

Well this Japanese site (http://www.nula.or.jp/) uses it as an acronym for "National Union of Land readjustment Associatoins".

And this site (http://www.websters-online-dictionary.org/definition/Croatian-english/nu/nula.html) informs us that it is the Croatian word for 'Zero'.

Yeah we knew about the Croation/Slovak/Slovene angle (it's basically Latin nulla.no , none, not any; nonexistent, ruined)

As for the Japanese acronym , that was a new one - thanks. Its obscure but that can be all important.

we've moved on however, and the new one has a distinct but distant meaning with some interesting typographical possibilities.

Any experts on branding new products out there (besides me I mean ;) )

I have a friend who has just finished a course at Sheffield Uni in Korean Business. I'll ask him tommorow for you.

The word it not in the Dictionary, and the Koreans I've asked say there is no such word.

Another chap thought it was the name of a Band but he wasn't sure.

So there you go. It's a made up word :P

I think he's misheard the work 'Mull-ah' which means 'I don't know' in impolite form...polite being 'Mul-ah-yo'
:-)

As far as I'm aware Nula...is not a Korean word
