I've played gigs in the past. Could you tell us a little bit more?

For example, although you say acoustic, does that imply no amplification at all, or do you mean one-man-and-guitar type sets?

I play using my own PA so I'm definitely 'plugged in', but this just makes balancing vocals and guitar(s) easier - plus of course it negates the need to shout.

Do you have your own PA? Are you prepared to pay peanuts or expect us to do it for free? (Most landlords, landladies and managers seem to expect us to do it for nothing. That's the main reason why I jacked it in.)

If you want to encourage folk to perform, reward them (even if it's a gallon of beer and a lift home) otherwise you'll be disappointed by the lack of interest.

(This gear ain't cheap, y'know!)

HI

Dont have are own PA yet but we can borrow them so that shouldnt be a problem. When I said acoustic I really just ment just chilled out softish music as the bar isnt massive a load of electric guitars ect wouldnt sound right but using a PA is a must Id say.

As for rewards we were thinking of maybe 4/5 drinks per band member and money so bands/ musicians can transport there equitment to and from the bar do you think this would be acceptable.

If you're looking for local bands/artists then it might be worth paying a trip or two around Sheffield to nights which already exist to find suitable acts and spread the word. You could also look on myspace as most acts will link to other Sheffield based acts and you could build up a real list of contacts from that.
