My partner recently got a Siemens SX1 phone. It comes with built in MP3 player. The data cable is suplied with the phone. We have installed the supplied software and connected the phone to the PC via the data cable. The icon comes up on the phone showing a connection but the software shows no phone connected. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and even downloaded it direct from the Siemens site incase it was a faulty disc but it still wont work.

We have looked on the Siemens site which is worse than useless!! Their 'contact us' form refuses to send and the help line number is 75p a minute so I am not calling that!! Teh section of the site for trouble shooting lets you chose SX1 as an option but brigs up a blank screen as far as informationis concerned.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? Is it likely to be a faulty calble or phone?

I have similar software for my Nokia 3510i, Oxygen Phone Manager, and I got it working by adding a connection from the serial port to the phone in the software.

Could be worth trying to see if there is an option to manually add a connection to your phone in the software, and if that doesn't work, hassle the supplier of your phone to investigate a possibly faulty data cable.

Thanks for the advice Rich but being an absolute non-techy, that means nothing to me at all!!!

Think well pop to the shop and ask!! Maybe get them to chack the cable etc.
