Look no trees (http://citysnapper.org/dm/sheffield/rivvall3.jpg)

Is this Hagg House as well? (http://citysnapper.org/dm/sheffield/rivvall7.jpg)

It's suprising how quickly it turned into woodland after neglect.

Wow!

Amazing lack of trees...if only it was like that today!

I can only echo Vicky's 'Wow'

Any idea when the pictures were taken?

(I should probably read the title  )

Having another look I now am pretty sure that the third photo has the rivelin valley allotments at the front of the photo and hagg house alloments in the background.

I'm unsure of a date. On Dave Milners photo site the photos are in the 60s, 70s, and 80's category. I'll try emailing him and ask him if he can remember approximately when he took them.

martin1973 from SheffieldForum's classic car group told me the following about the car going down Hagg Lane in second photo.

I think it is the rear offside corner of a ford escort estate possibly mk1 i would say mid seventies.

Hagg House Farm 1930's (http://www.picturesheffield.com/cgi-bin/picturesheffield.pl?_cgifunction=form&_layout=picturesheffield&keyval=sheff.refno=s06320)

This old farm house used to be somewhere near the "car park"

You can see it on this old map (http://india.british-history.ac.uk/george-image.aspx?pubid=270&placeid=3045&img=40294001&sheetid=9619&mapx=2270&mapy=1084&mapzm=1) from 1831

I always wondered where the stone and the bricks came from for all the buidlings on the site :D

Anyone know when the farmhouse was demolished? I do know that the allotments were only established there in the 1930s.

Dave Milner has been very good and emailed me back already with details of when he took the photos.
Abbreviating his email, he told me:

I think they were taken when I lived on Roscoe Bank between 1977-1980.

In fact, checking the 1st link you listed, you can see our house of the time that we had bought when it was new so it couldn't have been earlier than 1977.

So in under 30 years they have turned from a full hillside of worked allotments to almost woodland. I can't wait until hopefully the near future when they are again close to that.

Thanks again Dave
