This weekend I read an article in the Telegraph Gardening section about old tools that you tend to inherit and often get left in a dusty shed since a nice brand new tool was bought. So it go me thinking - does anyone have an old selection of tools that you do or don't use and if you do use them do you have a favorite
In addition to this I have a old spade which unfortunately I broke the handle this weekend (it was my wife's!) so I started to look for a new spade, but instead I've decided to buy a new handle - the new ones just don't seem to have the same character! Anyone know where I can get a decent replacement ash handle which has a curve towards the botton (the end that attaches the the spade)?

They have some nice ones in Fosters Garden Ctr at Thrybergh but they're not cheap :wow:
Yeah there are some nice ones around - although I note that wilkos have the same ones in (must be seconds...) at half the price!
I'm more really after more 'antique' classics like the sparenought spade and forks... I'm thinking they probably don't make them anymore... however if anyone wants to hand over their's to me I wouldn't complain!

You will find markets a good source for items like this, not in Sheffield though! When Chesterfield market has a flea market day have you had a look? Car boots are another possibility.
Not much use to you, but when I lived in Saffron Walden there was a market stall every saturday that sold old tools really cheaply and they were never short of customers,
