I run the bar and a lad called scott runs the nite, No live Bands on amonday just dj who'll let u choose the trax yourself, easily the best build up to a bangin nite at corp after.
We also have live Bands on Tuesday with our band on the bed nite, this tuesday THE IN CROWD from sunderland are playing with 4 other acoustic sets, so c u there.

I'm DJ at the rock night and also have worked behind the bar now for a year. Basically playing anything emo/rock/punk/metal - mixing up bands like taking back sunday with converge, thrice, metallica and too many to name. Trying to promote the fact that i let people into the dj box to choose a cd and a song and i make sure i get it on within two or three songs. that way i keep everyone happy and make sure everyone has a wicked time!

Excellant idea. Most DJ's dont let people rummage through their collections...... Wont be able to get down there tonight but will certainly be checking it out next Monday. Does this place have a late licence or is it an 11pm finish? And more importantly can you get Newcastle Brown, or any decent real ale on tap.....bit of a real ale buff it has to be said....goes hand in hand with good music.

Sounds good enough to me, will certainly be checking it out. Ah, a rock night in a sea of bland West STreet trendy bars will be such a refreshing experience. To get the full impact I may have to refresh myself in somewhere like Varsity first, just to get the right perspective on the West Street majority culture. I think it may be a very swift Varsity visit however before succombing to the distant vibrations of rock music emanating from the Bedroom, just a short trot down the street.....turn up the bass, Ill take the table near the Bar with the bottle and the blond.......

I do like to see new independant rock nights up and running, they are few and far between in Sheffield. If venues like this can get a late licence as they no doubt will in the Licensing Act revisions which are forthcoming for next year, it will be quite superb. I see no reason why more nights like this should not flourish. Sheffield has never been over saturated with rock nights over the last 25 years or so, certainly as compared to some Cities smaller than ours, so its certainly refreshing to know there is good strong local support.

Chill the Newcastle brown gents, see you soon.

Checked it out last night, although I was a little drunk from an encounter with a rather potent real ale in the Dev Cat!!!

ABout 25 people in I think and good music.....noticed it was for sale, so its future is in some doubt?

Hi dmjh,
I'm new to this forum and was very interested in the Bands on the Bed posting. I am looking for venues for a 3 piece Rock Band (from North Yorkshire) to play in South Yorkshire. Can you tell me a bit more about it and who to contact please? Also any idea's of any other good venues in your area?

Cheers Tatie
