View Full Version : City School 1980/1985
nichola2 02-10-2004, 16:49 Who attended this great school then.
I started in sept 1980 and left in may 1985
Who can remember, the smokers corner round the side of the school, and did anyone go to the youth club there. Mr sanderson was the head then, Mr Brown and Mr Fletcher the history teachers, Mr Mallinson the science teacher.
Had a fab time while I was there, best years of my life or so they say.
If it were possible to organise would anyone be interested in a kind of renunion.
post me back
cheers
ultracynic 03-10-2004, 14:34 Mr Brown was my history teacher and Mr Mallinson was my form teacher.
Some of those teachers from that era were real characters!
*Twinkle* 04-10-2004, 10:33 I left City in 2003, quite a long time after you then!!! hehe! My aunts left in 1975 and 1977 respectively, but you obviously won't have known them....
If its the same guy, Fletcher left when I was a year 8 or 9, and he was basically 2nd in command to Mr Gabbanni, the headteacher who left when I was a year 8. I believe he used to teach and I'm sure it was history, but I know he got promoted form a teaching post and occassionally taught history when a teacher was absent.
squeakyclean 04-08-2005, 08:22 I was at city school until 86 but I can't remememebr Mr sanderson being headmaster, I though Mr Chatterton was the head.

Bad_Hair_Day 08-08-2005, 08:24 yeah, 4se/5se form room was in the science block - I can't even remember our form teachers name! He just used to wander in and take the register while we weren't looking, then disappear again!
Did you go on any of the school holidays? I used to go on the Norfolk Broads, and to the farm at Hayfield .
I attended City School from 1986-1990. At that time Mr Debes was HT for 1 year and then Gabbani took over for the remaining 3.
I also went to the youthie, held in the 6th form block on Monday and thursday evenings, those were the days.
I was in Class 2 to 5CR. Did you know all the classes used to spell Stradbroke.
Dont see many people from school these days, a lot have moved on from Sheffield and all the rest are now bald. Th emen have lost a bit of hair aswell.
