I'm currently clicker training my two 8/9 year old moggies...

I can't believe how clever they are!

I'm looking for recommendations on clicker training books that actually go into the cat's thinking rather than how to clicker train, as I already understand clicker training, would just like some guidance on how to do it with cats rather than dogs! :D

Thanks!

Thanks pharenothyme, will take a look.

komal, a clicker is a little device that pinpoints the point at which your pet has done the right thing so it helps the animal to understand a lot quicker what it's done right.

They were originally used to train dolphins as they had to get it absolutely correct when jumping into the air but are now very popular in dog training and are even being used to train cats, rabbits and rats...

I find my clickers invaluable and although you can train without them, they make life much easier.

Basically the click is much more accurate than 'good boy!' in which time the animal could have done several things.

Hi Lotti

It's great to hear people clicker training their cats. I studied cat behaviour for two years and have been using clicker training with all animals from guinnea pigs to horses for a few years now, it you'd still like some more information I'd be glad to help.

Hi Lotti- I wondered about clicker training Alfie, seeing as he is such a clever cat I reckon he'd pick it up but havent found the time to try it- tried it with the dobermutt but she has a short attention span and selective hearing... Crosskeys is a good source of online dog and cat training books
