You can access all the info at the site below. Performance tables can be a useful starting point, but they are no substitute for visiting the schools in order to discover if they are able to meet the particular needs of your child.

anne_shirley 27-01-2007, 13:31 Hi,
not sure if this is exactly what you need, but you can try to have a look here
http://www.sheffield.gov.uk/education/our-schools/school-performance/performance-tables
or in
http://www.upmystreet.com/enter-location/l/?fpage=%2Flocal%2Fschools%2F
just by entering the postcode
If she is being picked on by chavs then the leage tables are irrelevent (if they aren't always so). You need to look at far more, in partucular the ethos of the school.
SimpyTimpy 28-01-2007, 03:01 If you can, then try and get her a place at Silverdale School. The reasons I advice this is not only because of Silverdale's fantastic results (the best school in Sheffield I believe that isn't private) but also because the kids that g o there aren't your usual chavs.
Take it from me, I go there :)

It isn't the school which is at fault it is the Head who seems to have trouble keeping the kids in order. My three went to City School and managed OK but the feeling I have now is that the kids please themselves most of the time. You see them wandering round Woodhouse and Stradbroke at all times of the day. When they are on the buses going home a large number, but not all, of them are foul mouthed and it isn't just the lads. The paths around the school are full of rubbish which the kids drop after they have been to the shop opposite the West End WM Club and when they come back from the shops at Stradbroke next to the "Strad" Pub. With discipline like this in the school is there any wonder bullying is also rampant. :loopy: :loopy:

Ive just started taking my little un to valley park at herdings, it baffles me how they built a brand new school right of the side of one of the busiest dual carriageways in sheffield.
postiepaul 30-01-2007, 16:29 the school originated in 1954 its not a new school attall i went thetre 1970 onwards !
Abbeydale grange isnt the best school ever. The new head teacher (been there about 2/3 years now) was supposedly going to improve the schools reputation etc but whilst she has been there, the number of people joining the school has gone down a lot. Y11 has 6 forms of around 25/30 pupils and Y7 has 4 forms of around 20/25. It's nice being a small school, but unless you *want* to learn, teachers dont really bother with you... It's VERY multicultural which isnt a bad thing, but often causes arguments and fights.
If you had the chace, i reckon silverdale would be a better option.

Silverdale is a good school but it doesn't suit everyone. Both my kids went there, daughter did really well up to and including GCSEs but didn't enjoy the 6th form at all. Son never settled there and after struggling for 5 unhappy years, he switched to High Storrs for the 6th form and it was the best decision he ever made. After changing schools he just took off and excelled in his A levels in a way that none of us could have predicted from his iffy performance at Silverdale. I understand High Storrs is rapidly catching up with Silverdale in the league tables and the atmosphere there is great, really positive and vibrant.
There will be 'chavs' at most schools and she will probably have to deal with them throughout her adult life aswell. Have you complained to the school...?Are they doing anything about it?
Because being the new kid isn't always easy either.
Good Luck

Sounds like your daughter is a MASSIVE disappointment to you. Why don't you just cut her out of your life for good? She's clearly just sapping all the goodness out of your perfect family.
Leah.
P.S. Joke.

Your iPod cable told me it wants to come and live with me. It told me what you do to it.... you should be ashamed of yourself.

I doubt the school will do anything as they never seem to want to accept there are bullying problems.
Seriously I dont think the teachers have anything they can do about bullying these days except exclude children which they dont want to do there is no discipline any more.
Also sending to a school considered to be a good school doesnt necessarily mean there is no bullying my daughter goes to a primary in the High Storrs catchment and has been bullied.

You make a good point. I went to a private school and bullying still goes on there, maybe in a different way but it happens
There is always going to be bullying at schools, what are they bullying her for? Kids everywhere will make fun of other kids for being tall, short, fat, thin, specky, smart, stupid, disabled, poor, rich, spotty, sensitive, you name it; changing school won't change that.
Now that I think about it, kids really are little sods!

good luck ! we're already checking out tables and enquiring about schools and ours is only 18m! education is so important. unfortunately bullying happens at all schools and if ur child suffers at one then she may also suffer at the next. maybe its a issue u need to take up with the current school? starting a new one at 14 will be really difficult for her(i know, i did it!) wishing you all the best though-its tough x
