Its the whole "forward any proof of identities... your current telephone and fax numbers and forwarding address" bit that concerns me, and the fact that they havnt addressed the letter to me personally and they havnt told me the name of this mystery dead relative Ive got buried in Africa!!!! Its just based on the fact that we have the same surname, and there's a lot of us Richard's about!!!

Does that mean then that I am Keith Richards ninth cousin twice removed and will receive a share in his glorius drug filled estate when he carks it?

Methinks no.....

still e-mail made me laugh quite heartily for around 40 seconds!

Yes, my boss just received an email about a dead relative leaving millions to him. Although he was sure it was a scam, just for the hell of it he rang the number and asked for the person on the email. It was a foreign chap who didnt understand anything my boss was saying. After a very short conversation going nowhere, my boss put the phone down.

I keep getting South Africans emailing me asking for financial support.

And it's usually some Doctor something-or-other (unpronouncable or spellable name usually).

I always just bin 'em, as much as I sympathise with the plight of Third Worlders, I can't afford to help them out even if it was genuine.

i had an email once in broken english but the person had an english name.

He was offering me a chance to buy some sought after concert tickets.
I asked him how I would know he was genuine and that I really did want the tickets. He assured me he was so i asked him to send me a scan of his passport , which he did. The wally scanned the next of kin page too as I suspected he might.

There were telephone numbers of his next of kin.............so I called them. I got this british guy's aunty. I explained what was going on so she got him to call me.

He had been on holiday to Spain/tenerife or somewhere like that and only handed his passport over once to the hotel reception guy (who obviously scanned it).

The fraudster had asked me to forward £500 via western union and gave me the details to pay.

Myself and the british guy called the police and I strung the spanish guy along for a couple of weeks saying I needed to wait until pay day. Then we sent 1p to the western union thinking that he would get notification that he had recieved some money, then the police took over from there.

So hopefully they were waiting for him to collect his hopeful £500

Help us make a better life for hard working families

You have received this email because you have contacted the Labour Party in the past. If you would prefer not to receive emails from the Labour Party please click on the unsubscribe link below.

At our conference this week Labour is discussing how we will make life better for hard-working families. We are emailing you today because we need your help in achieving this.

Over the past seven years we have achieved a lot for Britain's families. There are two million new jobs, school standards are rising and there are more doctors and nurses in the health service helping to bring down waiting times. And crime is falling with more police working to make our streets safer.

But we know there is more to do to make life better for families such as yours. We need to ensure that investment in public services is getting to the frontline; that employees have the skills they need to keep up with today's changing workplaces and that hard-working parents have high-quality, flexible childcare to help them balance their busy lives. We want to continue to increase the aid we give to the developing world.

But this is only possible if those who share our values and ambitions support us. Over the coming months we will be setting out how you can take action to ensure a third term Labour government. This week we are asking that you participate in our online debates and to make a contribution to our campaign funds. More details can be found on our website www.labour.org.uk

Please give whatever you can. Every little helps us in our fight to beat the Tories.

£10 for good schools: If re-elected, per pupil funding will have doubled by 2008 compared to 1997. £10 will be used to help us campaign for a Labour Government which will deliver good schools for all.
£15 for safer streets: In the next parliament Labour will continue to ensure communities can tackle anti social behaviour with more police. £15 can help us fight for a Labour Government to ensure safer streets.
£25 for a fairer world: In a third term Labour will do more to help the developing world with more aid to the poorest communities. £25 will be used to campaign for a Labour Government to continue building a fairer world.
£50 for more jobs: In a third term Labour will work for full employment in every region. £50 will help us campaign for a Labour Government which will deliver more jobs.
£75 for shorter hospital waits: Over the next four years a Labour government will get hospital waiting times down to 18 weeks. £75 will give our local campaigners the resources to win the argument for the National Health Service.

That is true. I did email Tony Blair. I told him to 'leave' Downing street NOW. As I expected it had nothing to do with getting in touch with that smug prat.

This is a new one on me - do I look that stupid?

That's a new one on me too, MrHelicopter.

There's also one around where they claim you'll get paid by them depositing money in your account, and then you write a cheque for part of the money and then send that to one of their representatives.

Apart from the risk of them emptying your account, they're actually using you to launder money.

Joe
