View Full Version : The Earl Of Arundel on Queens Road Michael H 25-01-2007, 23:13 a friend is thinking about putting a party on at this venue and has asked me what i think of it but i haven't been there.what do you all think of it? Stormy 25-01-2007, 23:26 I like it, has some good events on every so often. carcrash 26-01-2007, 01:23 It used to be good, I've not been down for a while so i don't know what it is like at the moment. The Expansion night down there is always good for a laugh. UKer 29-01-2007, 14:36 I've not been in ages but heard from DJs I know that there has been a lot of attitude there, and advised not to go any more because of some moodies who attend. Shame, 'cos I had some amazing nights there a couple of years ago. AFTERDARK 30-01-2007, 13:00 The Earl Is Building Back Up It Was Closed For A While But Now Is Back Up And Running . Yeah you need to speak to Craig on 2500236. platts 31-01-2007, 08:23 The Earl is and always will be a good venue. the vibe in that place hasn't changed in the years i've been going if anything it has only got better!! carcrash 31-01-2007, 08:26 It did get quite nasty down there for a while about a year ago. jake 31-01-2007, 08:36 Who runs the Earl these days? platts 31-01-2007, 08:41 Its under new management! The new guy is called Craig he's sound jenz245 31-01-2007, 15:55 went on friday and all the people were very friendly and wide awake (if u get my drift) but all in all a good night not usually my scene/music but hey. been a few times b4 an always had a good night nick2 31-01-2007, 16:57 all the people were ..... wide awake (if u get my drift) How do you mean ? Wodoish!!! 31-01-2007, 17:38 How do you mean ? They weren't asleep sugarcube 01-02-2007, 17:58 no offence but if it aint obvious nick, i doubt people will tell you.... rach108 03-02-2007, 12:03 It did get quite nasty down there for a while about a year ago. We were there just over a year back, used to really enjoy it, but this night there was a fight. Some guys were trying to get in and the doormen shut the door. Half an hour later we went to leave (2 girls) got in my mates car and the guys came back. One of em put his fist through the window in my mates car. No reason whatsoever. I wouldn't go down there after that. It wasn't the only incident. carcrash 03-02-2007, 15:31 I wouldn't go down there after that. It wasn't the only incident. I did a night called Spannered down there for a couple of years. I saw it turn from one of the best venues in Sheffield to almost the new niche. There was talk of protection rackets and the BBC but I'm not sure there is any truth in those rumours. The main problem it had was the fact that a lot of violent people have banning orders put on them to stop them entering the city centre on Friday and Saturday nights. The Earl is just outside the banning order radius, opens late and had softish security so it attracted a fair few hooligans and their hangers on. The actual main boys weren't really a problem, I know a few of them from years ago, it was the younger ones with their Stone Island and baseball caps. platts 05-02-2007, 12:03 I did a night called Spannered down there for a couple of years. I've been plenty of times this year and have to say the security have been top notch and there's not been the slightest bit of trouble! Also when did the earl turn into a so called "niche" venue?? I don't remember that?:suspect: Have you been since the new owners took over? my advice is to check it out for yourself rather than believe an ex promoter from the earl who clearly has a bitter feel for the place! jenz245 05-02-2007, 15:47 what? so what happened well over a year ago when the Earl was ran by a load of idiots who where pretty much clueless about how to run a bar and security will put you off for life? Come on mate wake up and smell the coffee - there's trouble all over the place especially at late night clubs & bars. The earl is always ok and security is much more better now the new owners have took over! Drinks r cheap and there is a nice buzz about the place! true_xtc 05-02-2007, 17:47 I used to visit the Earl last year when FutureFunk started, for the first few months it was sport on, the dancefloor was packed, ramdoms where chatting and it was filled with a 'feel good vibe'. There was one night when its all went abit messy, seemed like the locals where just getting to drunk and causing trouble and the feel good vide just wasnt the same, then FutureFunk discovered Fez Club, they where the days!!! Haven't been back since it was taken under new management but the pub has a good layout and when its good, its good! The more light minded people that go the more the trouble makers will find somewhere else to go. (And end up buying Fez/Scuba Club!!) jenz245 06-02-2007, 11:11 hey does anyone have details of whats happening this weekend at the earl?? carcrash 06-02-2007, 11:46 [what? so what happened well over a year ago when the Earl was ran by a load of idiots who where pretty much clueless about how to run a bar and security will put you off for life?
