He's arrogant, overly-opinionated, smug, boorish and very definitely not God ;) .

I think he's o'reyt.

A tad over-rated, funny in an old-man kinda way. I don't mind him.

I like the fact that he has an opinion on something and sticks too it.

I read an interview with him in GQ a while back and it was very interesting the interview was done by AA Gill and the opening line read something like this.

"The most infuriating thing about him [Clarkson] is that when you meet him, you are forced to accept that he is not the oafish borish(sp) man you believe him to be. He is a devout family man who cares deeply for his family, and shock horror, is a very intelligent man."

None of which preclude him from presenting a persona in the media which is both arrogant and boorish. I'm sure his family and mates like AA Gill think he's lovely.

Norman Wisdom is considered a national treasure `cos he can stumble about like a bumbling idiot. Clarkson batters him all over. The guy is dream.

I think that most women find him intimidating because hes a bloke of the old school. Hes the kind of bloke Id be if I had the balls to stand up to my other half.

I think he's fabulous - not just because I'm a sad old petrolhead and love Top Gear but for his witty opinions on all kinds of random stuff.

His Sunday Times 'Opinion' (http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/section/0,,12529,00.html) column is always good for a laugh.

I reckon all that macho stuff is just a front and he's really henpecked at home!

Although I find people talking about cars utterly tedious, I have to admit that Clarkson is a very funny and entertaining bloke. I can heartily recommend the books that are a compilation of his newspaper columns.

I think that he is a walking, talking cliche and frankly it's wearing a bit thin.

And he hails from South Yorkshire?

And he hails from South Yorkshire?

If you're asking rather than telling, yes - he's from Tickhill near Donny. He was on that "Who Do You Think You Are?" programme last year tracing his roots back in South Yorks.

His opinion about many subjects are over the top but he is very funny. I have absolutely no interest in cars at all but I'll still watch Top Gear just for the humour.

I think he's great, I even forgave him for the 'caravan episode' on Top gear.

I like his style of presenting on the show when reviewing cars, but as a person, he's a bit of a twit. He's very anti-bus and is too opinionated. However, I think most of this is just for the sake of the cameras.

James May is better, he's more laid back and he drinks real ale. Saw him the other day btw at Stansted Airport. He got a black cab all the way into London, so he must be a rich man!

I would think Top Gear's viewing figures this series will shoot up after Hamster's accident..

It's not just his motoring reviews that are good. His 'Meet the Neighbours' series was pretty witty as well ........ but doubt if the Belgians would have agreed.

I have read every book he has written ... I think.
