View Full Version : Going to any festivals/concerts this year?

CHAIRBOY 25-01-2007, 15:32 Arctic Monkeys doing Glastonbury this summer.
miniminch 25-01-2007, 17:35 Unless there is a festival that provides you with an en suite double-room with bed, breakfast, evening meal, with afternoon tea and a private box to watch the bands away from the stinkers, I shall be avoiding the festival season this year!
alternageek 25-01-2007, 18:11 no festivals, yet.

EdnaKrabappe 25-01-2007, 19:29 Festivals... I got tickets to V VIP :D and it's midsummer
Glasto is always at a rubbish time (Report writing) so I've never been but might try and get to Leeds. After last year (no probs getting a ticket) I'm going to wait until the weekend.
Gigs: oooh busy busy.... Diary filling up... although had to miss two i wanted to see recently due to work/other committments.
8th Feb Nerina pallot, 10th Wombats  @ Matt 11th Indie Rock tour (automatic, the view etc) 13th Maccabees 16th The Twang 23rd Polytechnic and chartists 3rd March Ash 4th March Jet 7th March KASABIAN (but there are probably leaves on the stage or summat:rolleyes: ) 10th The Holloways (still to sort this P.C.!) then hoping to get to Manchester that week for The Shakes. (My new favourite band)
Then got Arctics booked for the summer!
Hoping to get tickets for another gig this week that's not been announced properly yet (just a confirmed rumour) and I've just spotted the James ones and think that might have to be as well. :)
SOoooooo skint!!!! :o
Agent Gypo 26-01-2007, 14:15 Hopefully going to BLOC next month.
Ceephax Acid Crew, DMX Krew, Autechre, Vex'd, Mike Dred........
Winemaster 26-01-2007, 14:33 Hoping to go to the 2007 winefest US, this time to improve on last years results.
EdnaKrabappe 06-02-2007, 20:16 OOOH On the gig list, the magic gig fairy managed to lay her hands on two Kelly Jones tickets to add to the month of gigs I've got planned :) on 1st April so not quite all in March.
Also not booked yet but I fancy The Hours at Ledders on 13th March - support your local lads!!
If anyone is wanting to go to glastonbury this year, hope you know you have to register your interest for a ticket this month and send a pic off to get printed on your ticket if you're lucky enough to get one. You'll have to have your registration number in order to buy a ticket come April.
I've registered... fingers crossed for a ticket!!
liam1412 06-02-2007, 20:40 I will be purchasing my Ticket for Leeds as soon as they go on sale, Also going to see Bloodhound Gang at the Plug in March then Arctic Monkeys at Lancashire cricket ground in July. hopefully more to come!!!!!!!
Sassy_Chic 06-02-2007, 20:42 I want to see greenday but i dont think they r touring this yr  :(
liam1412 06-02-2007, 20:46 I want to see greenday but i dont think they r touring this yr
They are rumoured to be playing Leeds festival so keep an eye out for the line up of that. Usually some time in March or April they announce it

liam1412 06-02-2007, 21:14 Yep. But then again half the rumours turn out to be true and half of them are just rumours!!!! So don't get too excited yet.
haddockman 06-02-2007, 23:23 Killers a week on Friday!! :D
My Chemical Romance in March!!!
Maximo Park in April!! :D
CherryNicole 06-02-2007, 23:42 Got my ticket for Leeds already, am guna try to get a ticket for Glasto :D
sexkitten 07-02-2007, 00:26 Just got tickets to see Gary Moore in Manchester, in June.
Can't wait!!!
purple_frog 07-02-2007, 01:30 I'll be going to Electric Picnic back home in Ireland, the first weekend in September ... love it sooooo much! Such a chilled crowd, interesting mixes of musical genres, lots of fun and creative 'other stuff', and the nicest atmosphere going - cannae wait! Tis invariably the highlight of my summer, a weekend of music, dancing and frollicks with friends I now only get to see a couple of times a year - WOOHOO!
Also gonna try my hand at my first festival in the UK ever - Glasto, or failing that Leeds.
But the idea of EXIT in Serbia also sounds tres tempting ... anyone here ever been? Heard fab things about it last year, but only in passing from people I bumped into on my summer travels in eastern europe - so hearing a more 'with-it' review would be nice!
Also, while I'm digging for info, has anyone ever been to the Burning Man? Tis on my long 'to do' list, but is it worth the hype?!
Oh I love the summer!
stussonicos 07-02-2007, 08:42 So far this year is turning out to be spot on for gigs.
All before the end of april I've got Mastodon, Deftones, Incubus, Bloodhound Gang and NIN, shame most of them aren't in Sheffield but you know what they say about beggars...
The Glade, hopefully.
Had a right laugh there last year

Sheffnewb 07-02-2007, 20:52 The killers
Maximo Park
Little Man tate
Arcade Fire
The Holloways
Kelly Jones
The Waterboys
The Hours (Possibly if mate decides to accompany me)
And no doubt as many more as I can manage!
No festivals planned as I can't do leeds (somthing else on) and Glasto is too much effort to get the tickets and is (showing my age now:hihi: ) not as good as it used to be!
stussonicos 08-02-2007, 14:12 The March 3rd gig, can't wait.
Oh I forgot, got the killers too next Friday.
I'm going to try and get to the Meatloaf concert in May, there's just 2 things that stop me.
1) It's on a Tuesday, and I have other things on on Tuesdays
2) 2 tickets for me and Dad to go would cost £75, expensive when I've already been about 4 times to see Meatloaf before (5 if you count the tribute act at City Hall about 3 years ago)
I went to O2 Wireless at the weekend. Not my type of music but loved it!
BoroughGal 21-06-2007, 11:02 I'd really like to go to The Masterpeace Festival (http://www.themasterpeace.com/)- it's only £30 and nearby in Skipton. It's got an electronica tent and sounds like it's got a really nice vibe.
It's on the same weekend as the Arctic Monkeys in Manchester though....
We are going to Global Gathering on the Saturday!!! Wooooooooooooooooo can't wait!
John Locke 22-06-2007, 13:09 Went to the 02 festival on the saturday (like, how minging was that beer they were selling? ... oh, and being a non 02 customer I couldn't get into the 02 tent to see Kate Nash grrrrr). Going to Leeds Carling festival (again, on the saturday) looking forward to Kings of Leon
:headbang:

Leeds or Hyde Park? I was at the London one (as I said...) I liked the beer! TUBORG!! Ha. I only had one mind, it was cheaper 50p cheaper than smirnoff ice and the other bottles and you got more! Vodka was expensive.
Solomon1 22-06-2007, 13:49 renaissance at knebworth baby! underworld, sasha, digweed....haaaaaa...:)

There are loads i want to see but you can't see everyone (too expensive) but i am sure i will be cajoled into a few others. Also intend going to see Headliners and Amy MacDonald and would have liked to see OCS tomorrow but hey ho, got to work instead .
Smithster 02-07-2007, 23:11 Big Chill
6 of us booked up for that a few weeks back. Not a massive line-up but going to be good nonetheless. Looking forward to seeing Paul Hartnoll performing his new solo stuff - I just got hold of the album and it's quality.
V-festival (FOO FIGHTERS! MANICS!)
Leeds Festival (INTERPOL! ARCADE FIRE!)
Off to the Big Chill as well. It's just so civilized, and you get to hear loads of stuff you've never heard before.
Powerage 07-07-2007, 21:04 Rock and Blues custom show (Scorpions, MSG) cant wait.
Might be going to Bloodstock open air as would like to see Lacuna Coil.
Concerts Ozzy last night though was a bit disappointing.

EdnaKrabappe 01-08-2007, 11:10 I am now looking forward to V Festival! Still not got the tickets and as i've won mine I'm a bit worried that there is going to be a hiccup despite having a few recent confirmation emails. (like they will send us south instead of north.)
Starting to look who i might go and see - so far it's looking like this! (Subject to times/mates' choices etc)
Saturday - Dodgems,The Hours,Mcfly,The Cribs,The Gullimots, KT Tunstalll,The Fratellis, James, Kasabian or Manics, Graham Coxon or Killers (Can’t decide!)
Sunday - Glen Tilbrook,The Wombats, Switches, Mummra,The Proclaimers,The Holloways, Jet, Ocean Colour Scene,The Coral, Happy Mondays, The Kooks or Foo Fighters or Primal Scream (Probably Foos)
I am going to the Butlins dance weekender thing. This is kind of a festival/concert in my eyes!
Erasure in about an hour at the City Hall :)
Going back to my youth !
Lee Mead in Joseph and the amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in London on Saturday afternoon.
Travelling down to my Brother's in Teddington tomorrow night.
Meh, it's a concert to me.

The Butlins things in Dec look amazing! The one at Skeggy looks very tempting but i'm already booked up that weekend. Hasn't stopped me trying to blag a few freebies though. :D

How do you afford all those gigs?!?!?!
ReginaldD 24-09-2007, 12:33 Went to see Milburn in Birmingham on Saturday at the Carling Academy, the venue wasn't the best. The band weren't that great I expected a lot better from them, I think MIlburn have had there chance now and will not manage a 3rd album. The new stuff didn't sound great on first impressions, though I'll hear it again on Friday at the Leadmill and maybe teh second time of hearing it will be better.
We had a good time in Birmingham though, I wouldn't go there through choice but it was a good laugh.

If you do go to Marilyn Manson (which you should, it's a great show) make sure you get there for the support, Turbonegro. They may well blow Mr Manson off his own stage.
Dimmu Borgir on Saturday at rock city YAY!!!!!!!!!!
Then Heaven and Hell Arena!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then Marylin Manson at Birmingham!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Can`t wait!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm seeing Dimmu Borgir in Berlin while on holiday. Manson, I've seen 12 times, but I'm tempted to go as I'm an avid follower of Turbonegro who are supporting Manson, as I mentioned above, make sure you catch them!
I'm not too bothered about seeing Manson though. I think the new album sucks.
Manson puts on a great show, I was that excited when I saw him at Manchester that I almost peed my pants!:D
I can`t wait for Saturday though, Rock city isn`t the biggest of venues so you just know its going to be ridiculously loud.
I don`t think I`ve seen Turbonegro though, are they good?
Kthebean 24-09-2007, 14:40 I am going to see Manu Chao and Foo Fighters. Happy days.

I'm really excited about the stuff I've got coming up:
15/10 Reverend & The Makers - I missed them last time they were in Sheffield cos no one would go with me, so I'm looking forward to seeing them with it being a year since I last saw them
1/12 McFly - not as excited as I usually am to see them, but I'll probably enjoy it when I'm there
7/12 The Human League - SO SO SO excited about this!!! I never thought I'd get to see them live and I can't wait :D
15/12 Little Man Tate - the flood relief gig at Plug was really good so it'll be good to see them again
EdnaKrabappe 24-09-2007, 18:33 :o

I don't and I won't - time wise as well.

What? What? What? Do these boys never rest? Annoyed as i didn't get an email and i'm definitely registered  but I dunno if i'm that bothered about going - a Tues/wed night to manc in Dec seems a lot of hard work. But i've woken up tired so i might feel different tonight when they've all sold out.
YAY!! My Marilyn Manson tickets came this morning!!!:headbang::headbang:
I shall be indulging in a dose of paddywhackery with the Saw Doctors in Manchester in December. Was really looking forward to the White Stripes before they cancelled. Don't go to many gigs now that I am settling into grumpy-old-mandom.
