View Full Version : 'The Lost Room' - Sky One
Anyone see the pilot / opener of this last night?
I quiet enjoyed it...be interesting to see where it goes.
It reminded me of one of those computer adventure games where every item has a use. I hope they're imaginative in what the 'objects' can actually do - that's probably going to be the make or break of it.
And PLEASE don't drag stuff out - that's sometimes the problem with 'Lost' in that you get the feeling that the writers are sometimes treading water.
Camrat78 25-01-2007, 14:34 sky+'d it last night, so hopefully will watchit this weekend. Definatley looks the part, and with over 100 item (So it says in the trailer) plenty to go at, as long as the yanks dont cancel it after the first series like they seem to do all the time!
WallBuilder 25-01-2007, 18:06 I quite liked it if only because it was something different.
Go on some-one is now going to ssay it is exactly the same story line as...........

....an old adventure game! :hihi:
Seriously, I quite enjoyed it and I always find it hard getting into 1st episodes. Looks like it could shape up well, but if they try to drag it out too long, the little girl will be an adult by the time her daddy finds her :help:

Camrat78 25-01-2007, 19:08 What adventure game?
BluePolo 25-01-2007, 22:13 Currently it's only a mini-series with 3 parts. As usual there are rumours that it will be brought back as a series, but I suppose it all depends on ratings.
I enjoyed all three episodes as they were aired on US TV before Christmas (Naughty me downloaded them). Even if it's not turned into a series it's worth watching.
Just watched the second episode for the second time. :)
My Sky box decided to crash big time half way through when I was watching last time - conveniently around the time when they were dealing with the disaster that befell collectors in 'Room 9' in the past. Maybe those Objects have some 'fluence on Digital TV. :)
I'm enjoying it but by 'eck, miss a bit and you're having a flounder for a while. Took me a Wiki search to see what the deck of cards did, for example!
Good stuff and takes no prisoners with you keeping up with it. Looking forward to the 'last' part next week.
WallBuilder 02-02-2007, 00:42 I was so annoyed not by the program but the really irritating ten minute problem which meant I thought that I'd miss the vital bit as they went to look at the motel. Luckily I kept channel hopping and so managed some how to switch over just as the problem was resolved and I didn't miss anything [I think]
If the room will take him anywhere then why doesn't he just say take me to the prime object and make sure he's got a photo to aid him Sorry being slightly cryptic so as not to spoil it for anyone still to watch it..
he needs to be able to describe in his mind the place he wants to go to, and I also assume there's a limit on the room being only able to take him to places in our time and space.
So, he'd need a photo of the Prime Object in it's current location, and it would need to be in a place accessible via a door with a suitable lock...
And that 10 minute delay really cheesed me off coming along with my crashing Sky Box. But I caught up last night. :)
Camrat78 08-02-2007, 08:02 Dis anyone else feel the ending was very disappointing? Great build up, and then...... nothing much really. What happened to the man with they glass eye, and how come the occupant died and noone took his place? I didn't think you could distroy objects?
Ahhh.....
But do we know that the Occupant hasn't been replaced? Joe might be the new occupant for all we know, or even his daughter? Or maybe even the chap with the glass eye... And why did the chap's son NOT come out of the room when he had the opportunity? He might be the occupant now?
I think the ending was left deliberatley 'at sea' for a series follow up and I really hope they go for it.
There's also the chap who's become the Prophet for the Re-unification Cabal, the female detective who's now been exposed to Objects and so is somewhat involved, etc.
It's got legs... :)
I enjoyed it - a bit of an open ending but good fun all the way.

As I understand it, the Objects can be destroyed while they are in the Room - but a new Object will then to take on the properties of the destroyed Object. I think it was referred to as the Law of Objects, at some point - it's like filling the vacuum created by the destruction of an Object.
So, if the Occupant of the Room is indeed dead (as it would seem), then Joe, or possibly his daughter, or possibly the man with the glass eye, or maybe even Jennifer, I don't know, could be the new Occupant. But someone will be...

And he'd need to know what the Prime Object is, of course. But then the Occupant said there wasn't a Prime Object...
I've spent too much time thinking about this :hihi:

I saw it just before Christmas and I was dying to talk to people about it. Apparantly the talk of it being made into a series based on ratings is being jeapordised by US viewers who got the face on about BattleStar Galactica being delayed or bypassed in order to screen the Lost Room. It's all a bit odd if you ask me.
Anyway, I loved the mini series and for me it's up there with The 4400 and Heroes.
I think the concept of all these items with powers has at least a potential 100 episode plot possibility, plus combinations of the objects, the story with the daughter, the Occupant, the cult and a love aspect.
I can't wait until more people have seen it so that I can flash a nail file at them and they'll get the joke!
