View Full Version : Good Mobile Phone contract
neeeeeeeeeek 30-09-2004, 20:23 My Contract with Orange is up next month, I can have a upgrade phone but they are being a bit mean so was wondering what other contracts people might recommend. I got a free T610 and 200 mins any time any nextwork and 500 free texts a month. Minutes carry over up to a max of 400, texts dont. It costs £30 a month. I rarely use more than my free mins and like being able to send basically unlimmited text messages without getting a huge bill. I guess 200 mins and 400 texts a month and a nice phone would be good... I don't mind buying message bundles if I did not get any free but don't really need more free mins as I would not use them. Anyone got any recomendations? anyone found the 3 network any good? any thoughts? Cheers people.
:D
DaBouncer 30-09-2004, 20:35 Have you looked on www.dialaphone.co.uk for deal?
Or perhaps www.kelkoo.co.uk
Classic Rock 01-10-2004, 13:33 There's a reasonable deal on at Vodaphone at the moment - 250 texts and 100 mins for £22 per month, free phone with it.
You may getter a better deal on line though. Have a look at O2s website. I personally wouldn't recommend O2 though as they mess up your bills on a regular basis and won't take no for an answer. Customer services was 50p a minute and I had to use it a lot with the billing errors that were their fault! They wouldn't refund the customer service charge though. I left.
Vodaphone have free customer services. 3 offer good deals but have limited network coverage....some people I know say that they often lose connection or cannot get connection depending on where they are.
scatterheart 01-10-2004, 14:49 I like O2's Online tariffs. I get 500 free texts(and MMS), 100 minutes anytime to any network, and a bit of free GPRS, don't know how much. That is £25 a month. Plus you can get a lot of the newest phones for free on their website when taking out a new contract. I like the new Sony Ericsson, it's the newest version of my current phone T630, and it's free on O2 site :)
The O2 online contracts are still the best value. Although not as good as when they were BT Genie, I'm still on that contract. Get 600 texts a month, 50 mins a day and unlimited free wap for £12.50 a month.
mines o2 as well my contract isn`t there anymore but it`s been modified and is a fiver more expensive, i`m still on the old version tho 500 off peak mins 500 txt 50wap and 50 xnet for £20 per month, they do mess up your bills sometimes i`ve been with em almost 18 months and they`ve done it twice but if you use the web facility to mail em and sort it out it`s free, also i like being able to log into the account every few days to see what i`ve used. if you go down the web support route and don`t mind waiting for the conclusion to any discrepancies then this is the way to go.
FairyNormal 02-10-2004, 09:25 We have two O2 online contract phones and find them excellent value for money. I have to say that their customer srvice is pretty poor and the website has numerous problems. Often you can't log in and clicking on links brings up error messages a lot.
One thing that has pee'd me off about them is upgrading. I was on the old online/off peak500 tariff (500 off peak minutes and texts etc for £20 a month) and upgraded to their online 100 tariff. (£25) It was two months after my 12 month contract ended that they finally let me get a new phone and another month before they upgraded my tariff. I did however, get to chose any phone I wanted and got an E700.
Last week, my partners contract was up so he decided to upgrade, only to be told he had limited choice of phones. They listed about 5 phones he could chose, none of which he wanted. To get the phone he wanted for free (instead of paying £99) we have had to cancel his current contract and sign up as a new customer.
Totally rediculous I know but it was the only way to do it. It doesn't say anything on the website about limited choice of phones for upgrade and a couple of months ago I could chose whatever I wanted.
SO beware, customer services are crap even if the tariff are good!!
Yeah |'ve heard horror stories about O2's customer services.... Which is why I stick to pay as you go.
Robbie Loving 02-10-2004, 10:04 im with orange, and for all i know they could be messing my bill up, but i dont know as i just leave money in bank to let them withdraw lol!!
REALLY should start checking my phone bill!!!
also when trying to set up e-mails on my phone, i went through some daft process, i had to register on net, then ring up orange, who then asked for my screen name that i chose or something,
i explained i did not pick one as i was not prompted
so they said i had to ring a premium rate number up to find out what it was, rang that, they gave me it, and it was wrong, so had to ring back and do it again, he didnt quite grasp what i was saying, so i left it as it was and have not got e-mail available on my phone GRRRRRRR
this was after a lengthy process of setting MMS up, and also asking for my tariff to be changed, for it not to be!!
You seen Orange's adverts in teh Pictures?! Orange Wednesdays?! WTF?! :loopy:
