apparently the yobs in jordanthorpe have been causeing trouble again picking on the kids from dronfield my neice was one of the kids who got picked on and recieved a black eye from one of the lads from jordanthorpe as she went to the funfair at bowshaw on the sheffield dronfield boarder this is not right why can somthing not be done to these yobs

You can't do anything "to" the kids, cos that makes you just as bad as they are IMO, but slapping ASBOs on them ain't worth the paper they're written on cos they don't adhere to them.

Its just aweful isn't it!!! I hate bullying full stop.......just nearly cried at a mencap ad on TV earlier coz it was about bullying.

I've lived in Dronfield now only for 9 months and this is the first I've heard of yobs in Jordanthorpe (not surprised though). My two older kids aren't quite old enough to be going to the funfair on their own, your poor niece I hope she feels better soon.

I don't think anything can be done with these yobs........the police can't really do anything and the yobs aren't scared of them anyway. Maybe its because they don't have enough respect for the police.......wonder who'll be teaching them that! Then if parents try and stick up for their bullied children we get into trouble!! Just can't win.

While you're not actually allowed to 'do' something to them, it sometimes is the only thing these yobs understand.
It in no way makes you as bad as them - however without promoting violence look at the ASBO route.

To get an ASBO I think (not sure) you need to have a certain amount of edivence (be it written diary / video diary etc).
ASBO's work because if the kid doesn't adhere to it, they get locked up.

What I would do is contact your local Neighbourhood Watch to start. Get advice from Citizens Advice perhaps or Contact your local police service and see what's they say.

Write to your local MP and press the issue that way.
It's about time anti social louts started finding out what they're doing WONT be tollerated.

bah you wont get much done... I got jumped by a bunch of youths a year or two back... some witness named 2 out of the 6 of them... the cops knew the gang in question but they didnt do jack about them because they're kids...

btw this was in kimberworth, rotherham, where some of my family live... that area is seriously going downhill the last few years... lots of youths ruining the area with bad behaviour...

whats with kids and no respect and hanging around in gangs and such at like 14?? I'm 19 and I dont remember doing that when i was there age...

and is it me or do kids these days swear FAR too much?? its f*** this, F*** that... s**t... c**t... etc... y'know I'm a Uni student and i swear sometimes, but jeez i aint THAT bad!

A fun fair is going to attrack a lot of young people and as a lot of kids are very territorial they will use this as an exscuse to lash out at anyone who isn't from their patch. Jordanthorpe, Batemoor, Lowedges or Woodseats they all have some objectionable young people.
The question is in this do-goody world what do you do with the scroats? You can't hit them, ASBO's just move the trouble elsewhere and as they have no respect at all for authority the police aren't able to help much.
I'm afraid my solution is far too upsetting for all you good readers but no it doesn't involve castration or birching or even locking in a little dark hole till they learn how to behave.

Tempting idea but not as drastic as that.
I used to help at a youth group in Woodseats and although it was a few years ago some of the lttle ruffians!! still remember me and say hello. Believe it or not some of them have become reformed characters, it's amazing what marriage and a kid of your own makes you regret as you remember some of your wild youthful hi-jinks.
As a result of working with kids I have a fairly good idea as to what they'd really hate to have happen to them, keep guessing.

I remember similar things happening at the fair when it came to fields at Woodhouse Mill. There were always big scraps between kids on both sides of the Sheffield / Rotherham border. Back in 88-89 there were incidents where people were thrown into the River Rother and I seem to recall police divers searching for a knife soon after.

Ive had trouble from jordo scrubbers , theyres nowt you can do really as stated ,cops dont do oute ,ASBO aint gunna make a difference and if you kick off they come down mob handed and then your in for it.
When it happened to me these few lads had done it to a couple of lads in the same week , the week after they came back down to cause some more trouble . . . they got hammered by a group of people who knew all the lads who had got jumped ,needless to say the yobs aint been back.

Just think to your self these scrubber with either end up in the nick ,dead or a smackhead with no life

theres been fighting at fairs for years,its an area thing...
so and so lads go to the fair from wherever and have a scrap with so and so lads from another area,,its been going on for years and years.....i agree its got worse of late,knives etc..that needs stopping..but groups of young lads will always fight,do you not remember going to fairs when you were young???
i don't condone the fighting but lads will be lads....
