Has the mobile coverage and signal strength dropped significantly in south Sheffield? I think it may be due to tower block masts that have gone along with the tower blocks (for which i'm not complaining!)

I've tried every network and the best I have found is Orange

Yeah I agree, I always found orange ot be the better one out of all of them although t-mobile isn't too bad.
I've just switched back to 02 and it is impossible to get a good signal anywhere!!!! grrrrrrrrr

i was on orange and had no end of problems when my nearest transmitter went down on several occasions and for days at a time.

I'm now on O2 and have no problems always getting a full signal.

One question though... where are all my texts cos i aint getting em? and that seems to be a common problem with O2.

yes & they are advertising that they have the best signal out of all the networks, personally i have found T-mobile to be the best, Orange was ok the signal wasnt as good & there customer services were awful, could never get anything sorted out with them, t-mobile have been the best on all aspects for me!

Hi

I was going to post a similar message. I'm looking to upgrade my phone. I tried a phone from Orange but I live in Renishaw and the signal was lousy. I know a few others here live in Renishaw - what network do you guys use?

I allways thought Vodaphone had the best coverage? Any feedback - I'm thinking of leaving 02.

I get a good signal most of the time on O2 pay as you go.

Shame their tariff is a con.

I live at Halfway and I used to be with T-mobile the signal was not to bad. Mad the mistake of switching to Vodaphone and the signal is rubbish.

I've had O2 for ages and have never had a problem signal wise around sheffield, always on full strength for me. Have you tried a different brand of phone, I find nokias have the best signal reception, but found Sony Ericsson phones to have poorer signal receptions.

Thats cos they dont want new transmitters in their back gardens

ive been on the 3 network about 14 months now and hardly have any problems.....but when i do get a crap signal (usually outside sheffield) i don't mind putting up with it because they are so cheap.....i can use my phone anytime i want to call who i want i don't have to bother about the cost.

Do 3 do PAYG sim cards seperately or do you have to buy a 3 phone to get their network?

I'm considering getting my O2 Nokia unlocked and changing to a cheaper network.

O2 is awful in crookes, vodafone quite good tho we tend to lose GPRS quite a lot [not handy when our job requires it]. Orange has been best so far.

one thing to try with the texts is, go to network selection, choose manual and then try every network other than yours. finally choose your own.

hey presto.

works for me when i think im not getting texts and i should be.

sometimes find out that im just not very popular!

I was on O2 (in Hallam area) when I had no problems at all with the signal. Got tempted by the deal on 3 and changes to 3 at the end of O2 contract. Had only problems since. I can hardly complete a single conversation with out the line getting cut and leaving the annoying message of service unavailable. I have to stand near my front door to get a decent signal to complete any conversation from my home.
Am worried that because the handset has to work extra hard to catch the signal, it get really warm after a minutes use and i think it is going to affect my hearing in the long term other than frying my brain at the same time. duh........ where am i............

I'm with T-Mobile and have been for the last 6 years.. the coverage now is second to none. I know it used to be questionable to say the least (when they were one2one) but they have spent £2 million EVERY day on the network for the last 2 years and you can really tell. I never have any problems getting signal, apart from one pub on Abbeydale Road. The only problem with T-Mobile is their price plans are not very competitive I don't think. And I work for them! :hihi:
