View Full Version : Man shoots son in chicken row
Guess where this happened:
From Ananova: Man shot in row over chicken
A man's been shot in the head by his father in a row over how to prepare chicken.
Jackie Lee Shrader, 49, and his 24-year-old son Harley Lee, argued during a family meal.
They then started brawling at their home in Bluewell, West Virginia.
Jackie Lee Shrader, 49, and son Harley Lee, 24, then fired at each other with .22 calibre pistols.
A bullet went through the upper part of Harley Lee's ear and lodged in the back of his head. He was released from hospital after treatment.
Jackie Lee was charged with malicious wounding and both were charged with wanton endangerment, says The Sun.
dragonsoup 30-09-2004, 18:24 Its better out in the open than bottling it up. Families should work through these arguments even when, on occasions shooting is involved. (see Mrs. Beeton p.458 p. 4 vegetable soup and automatic .22 weapons)
Gardon
West Virginia? ;)
You mean that using firearms in the kitchen isn't a good idea?
Darn, I'll have to change all of my cooking techniques.
I hope they do'nt argue over the christmas turkey, there will be a bloodbath! :D

some_boy 01-10-2004, 11:21 ive heard of things getting a little heated in the kitchen but come on!
unless the guy wanted to poach the chicken rather than roast it with stuffing and gravy, then id of shot him!
Yanks are moronic.
Anybody else would've just eventually agreed to disagree, but no, the West Virginians have to shoot each other :loopy:
And the Americans think they rule the world?! WTF?! Stop the fuffing world I wanna geroff if that's the case!
Rich, I've seen some of your postings before, and some were interesting and witty. Here, I am afraid you let yourself down somewhat. Not all "Yanks" are "morons". Two dear friends of mine are American, and far from moronically-stupid. Remember that the media emphasis is nearly always upon New York/Los Angeles Coca Cola culture, and great chunks of what is a vast continent full of different peoples and cultures gets ignored. I don't mean to sound humourless, but think about what you have just said. Would you say it about black people? I don't think so. Americans, along with Northern Irish Protestants and white South Africans appear to be "legitimate" targets. No offence intended to you Rich [I'm far from perfect], just a thought.
Sorry for any offence caused, I've just had less than positive experiences of Americans on the net for example and find a lot of them to be ignorant "assholes" as they would say.
Rich, you've not caused any offence, and maybe I'm a hypocrite anyway. I've savaged Liverpudlians on the Hillsboro thread, so I suppose I'm guilty too of generalising. It's just that the USA is such a vast place, and all we seem to get to see in the media is Los Angeles, New York and other big cities. I have to agree, the term "asshole" does apply to the kind of American who thinks that their way of doing things is the RIGHT and ONLY way. They are in a minority, in my experience. All the best.
