View Full Version : Cheap petrol at Waitrose The_Bear 30-09-2004, 09:04 Unleaded 78.9p Diesel 79.9p This must be the cheapest fuel around. Cols 03-10-2004, 15:21 Thanks for that. You've just saved me a couple of quid :) npatchett 03-10-2004, 17:11 Where is Waitrose? I'll have a bit of that cheap(er) diesel! Its 83.9p at the Jet Station near me! :o D2J 03-10-2004, 17:15 Its now where Safeways used to be on Ecclesall Road.. npatchett 03-10-2004, 17:16 Ah not too far from work in that case! Methinks I'll pop down at th end of the week when the tank finally runs dry! Thanks!! Cols 03-10-2004, 18:33 Just to mention that you can't get to it through the Waitrose car park, because it's closed until the grand opening day (7th). You need to get to the where the Waitrose car park exits are, past the EDS buildings etc. Forgive me if you know that already :) evildrneil 03-10-2004, 20:02 Its the same price at Tesco and Sainsburys :) t020 03-10-2004, 20:06 Plus you can get 5p a litre off with Sainsburys if you spend over £50 in store. I think they're planning on finishing that offer though. E-Man Groovin 03-10-2004, 22:40 Waitrose is the best Supermarket chain in the UK - the best food without question. Can be pricey, but you gets what you pays for. Will be spending my Saturday mornings (and a large slice of my income) in there :-) P Snook 03-10-2004, 22:42 Yep, it's the same as Archer Rd Sainsbury's. tas1 04-10-2004, 09:37 Tescos are also doing the 5p off if you spend £50. And they've got 20% off Aus wine as well. nick2 04-10-2004, 09:45 Originally posted by E-Man Groovin Can be pricey, but you gets what you pays for. Up to a point thats true. HarrietStar 04-10-2004, 10:41 Waitrose do have really high quality food, but i still think it's over priced for what it is. It is definatly the high end of the market, but surely at the end of the day the raw materials for food can't cost that much. I think a lot of the pricing is becuase of the smart packaging and appearance of the food. Although the food itself is good! rickmiles85 04-10-2004, 20:13 What does waitrose look like? Could anyone be kind enough to take a photo for me? It doesnt look like safeway with a waitrose badge stuck nailed over the top does it? E-Man Groovin 04-10-2004, 21:34 No, Waitrose is a part of the John Lewis partnership and has been up until now a southern-based chain. With the sale of Safeway to Morrison's they've taken this opportunity to expand to the north of England. The first one opened in Harrogate a little while ago and I think the Sheffield one is second. The colour scheme is brown and orange and is as different from Safeway's as you can imagine. The food is of a different standard entirely to most other supermarket chains both in terms of the quality and the range. Think M&S food and you'll be getting close. We should be honoured that we're getting a Waitrose. They are usually only located in wealthy areas (e.g. they have stores in Richmond, Surrey, East Sheen, Kensington, Bath etc) t020 04-10-2004, 22:42 Originally posted by E-Man Groovin We should be honoured that we're getting a Waitrose. They are usually only located in wealthy areas (e.g. they have stores in Richmond, Surrey, East Sheen, Kensington, Bath etc) Perhaps they saw the potential after Sheffield Hallam reached the headlines 3 years in a row for being one of the wealthiest places in the UK? Waitrose should be honoured that they have a store in Sheffield able to tap into this potential, not vice versa (afterall, they're the ones getting our money). Waitrose has been dragged into the John Lewis rebranding exercise and is now just as green and sports the same diagonal stripes. At least the Peterborough branch is. Can't see them opening a new one in the old colours. Will they still have the hand scanners? I know some other branches of w'rose have them. Newark. richynomates 05-10-2004, 10:16 their new colour scheme is the brightest of lime greens! i've only ever been to two - one in belgravia, and one in canary wharf which has the worst restaurant in any supermarket ever. so if you are going for cheap petrol, don't be tempted by the smell of roasting chickens etc- it's dire! just fill up and get lunch somewhere else. 2 days to go.... E-Man Groovin 05-10-2004, 12:24 Originally posted by Disco_Cat er......... and............... Newark. What's wrong with Newark. Any town with a name that you can make such funny anagrams out of is o.k. in my book... Disco_Cat 05-10-2004, 13:02 The anagram and Waitrose are perhaps the only two positive things you can say about the town, apart from maybe it's good transport links making it easy to leave. Waitrose is very expensive but they reduce their stuff like crazy at the end of the night. I had friend who worked their once and when we picked him up you could get roast chickens for 10p almost every night |
