I have heard that I could inspect a food premises if I find to a poor level of standard.

Is this (or something similar) true.

This is in reguards the Pizza hut thread

Thanks in advance

I can't imagine youhave any rights to go snooping around a firm's kitchens if they don't want you to. That's what Environmental Health is for - you report things to them, they go take a look.

I would agree with old_bloke here - I'd be very surprised.

I for one wouldn't know what to look for unless there were foot long cockroaches dancing the Macarena on the chopping boards.

It is certainly true that you are allowed to inspect the kitchens of any public eatery. The snag is that they are allowed to refuse you access if you ask in advance but cannot actually stop you if you just enter. My advice is to always march straight into kitchens immediately you get to the restaurant before asking permission. The chef is obliged to show you his hands and to answer any personal questions you can think of. If the chef refuses to answer your questions or you are refused access then you can make a claim against the cafe under the Eatery Inspection (Snoopers) Act of 1964.

that can't be true! if you're allowed to just walk straight in would you be waiving any rights to be insured etc? 'cause you would need safety clothes on, and you may even be infecting things etc.
