Hi,

I was wondering if anybody knows anything about home recording...

I bought an Edirol UA-25 which i plug into my laptop, and I can record something but when I play it back I get the odd crackle and pop. I've tried adjusting the latency and buffer levels but I still get a few crackles per recording. Has anybody got any expertise or know how on this subject? Any advice would be welcome!

Thanks

Matt

Not soemthing I've used, but I did this Google search :

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=%22Edirol+UA-25+%22+crackling&meta=

And it appears you're not alone.

Good luck!

:O There's much better devices, cheaper...

I havent used the Edirol UA-25 myself, however the usual cause is Hard Drive activity, other than recording, so if your virus scanning, or using the PC opening files etc whilst its recording, that could cause it, since USB is Software driven, using the CPU can cause it to 'skip' and cause gaps and pops in the recording..

Clean your running processes and start up etc, defrag your hard drive then try it.. :)

Yes, I was wondering about the spec of the OP's machine.

I've been tinkering with SDR - software defined radio - and that's very picky if you have anything going on in the background whilst trying to process sound.
