View Full Version : Bruising: how can I cover it up? Make it go away?
*Twinkle* 22-01-2007, 12:23 I dont know how I've managed this, but I've got 3 cracking bruises on my legs... Its normally not a problem, however this week I'm going out in quite a leggy outfit, and the bruises just look horrible :(
Is there anything I can buy to make them go away fast... or would a concealer/foundation do the job?
Jabberwocky 22-01-2007, 12:24 Witchhazel gets rid of bruises fast. Takes a couple of days but its good stuff.
Realy thick wooly tights ?
lizzmobile 22-01-2007, 12:28 Arnica! Apply the cream or tincture and take the tabs. It's radical.
But quick, hurry up!
sophiec1979 22-01-2007, 12:29 arnica.
thats very good for bruises too.
ive had some arnica tincture from the health food shop on surrey street before that worked a treat.
x
Facial concealer/foundation wouldn't be up to the task of covering bruises. You'd need the heavy duty stuff used to cover birthmarks and the like. All would rub off on your clothes to a certain extent and you'd need a good match to make sure it didn't look false.
Isn't it a bit cold to be going out in a leggy outfit anyway? Wear trousers, you silly girl, or you'll catch your death ;) .

They all do it Hec, I don't know how they don't die of hypothermia. All hunched up with arms folded over their gownless evening straps trying to keep their nipples warm.
I went out min-Nov with our nanny (half my age  ) and she BANNED me from taking my coat! I was glaciated. Had a great time though :D
Jabberwocky 22-01-2007, 12:40 I was just passing and I saw the word "Nipples"
Is it worth me hanging around or should I bugger off...?

Bugger off.
Try concealer and see what you think first,
NEKRO138 22-01-2007, 14:06 You can't cover up bruising, and it's no good telling everyone that you 'fell into a door' when you get black eyes either.
Plain Talker 22-01-2007, 14:10 You can't cover up bruising, and it's no good telling everyone that you 'fell into a door' when you get black eyes either.
when I was with my "darling" ex fiance, was forever "walking into doors," od "walking into lamp-posts".. :(
investigator 22-01-2007, 14:18 I'm another that thinks Arnica is the dogs at getting rid of bruises quickly.
absynthfairy 22-01-2007, 14:28 Sally Henson Spray On tights - most amazing product ever. It's like foundation for your legs in a can - spray it on and it looks like you're wearing tights - it's amazing. Covers up my scars on my leg and my knee and smells nice too. It's about 10 quid in boots or a fiver in planet pout in meadow hall (bottom level by marks and sparks - next to mint). Might be quicker than arnica...:) Use it somewhere washable though - it gets everywhere...
Somebody once told me to use onions :gag:
Decided that I'd rather have a bruise then smell!!

I'm getting picked up... I'll be reet! :hihi:

Ginger_Kitty 22-01-2007, 14:45 it doesn't smell at all, and works a treat, get the little tablets too, they taste fine and work wonders too :)

lizzmobile 22-01-2007, 14:50 Nope. No smell. At all.
Unless you count the eau de dead mackerel that comes with it :hihi:

When using both treatments, be sure not to rub the tablets on your leg and swallow the cream! That's not good for you.

I don't mind if you are, I just need clarification so I can put you on the payroll.
EdnaKrabappe 22-01-2007, 17:31 Backing the arnica as well. If you've got any Body shop peppermint foot lotion, that contains it, it'll do the job and smell nice!

Me just winding up Caprice Em :hihi:
Stagey, I rather think the opposite is the case.
Shucks, put me down for minimum wage :help:
I doubt very much if the body shop's foot cream will contain sufficient arnica to treat Cap's bruises, but hey, tell us the X-rated stuff anyway :D

I swear by it Lizz. Have always used it, even before i knew it was the arnica that was sorting the bruising out. I'm forever walking into tables at work and ending up with bruises.
The X rated stuff ?- I'd be banned for life!
lizzmobile 22-01-2007, 20:13 Oh, right, ok then (to everything) :help:
I'd go with the arnica too- but if you're still bruised when you want to go out, I have some of the makeup that is prescribed for covering port wine stains, burns and tattoos (should you need it). It's waterproof to the extent that you can swim in it, and it needs its own remover to get it off again.

Yes, Arnica cream or gel is very good.Best to put it on immediately you bump yourself, but is good any time .The best is from QVC and is a lovely golden Arnica gel. I always keep some in. It sinks in really fast and smells lovely.
*Twinkle* 24-01-2007, 21:42 I now have a bruise on my forehead thanks to a disagreement between my drunken wobbly head and the toilet door... What am i going to do?
