View Full Version : Blades Sign Italian Defender
Tough tackling defender Italian Emanuele Gabrieli 23 has joined on a short term deal.Warnock has signed him for cover until Jan 2005 & has said he is worth a look at for a couple of months.Lets hope he is a good italian tackler not a fairy. He has not played for any team I recognise but even the Italians have good lower league players like we have.UP THE BLADES
With all the millions we have raised today, i would have thought that we could now 'buy' one or two 'good' players.
I really hope we get to actually spend some of the 5 million-plus!

Where has he come from? Not heard of him but if Morgan is out for a while we can't have Bilbo Baggins (Alan Wright) at centre back all the time like on Tuesday.

The share issue is going on reducing debt, increasing the wage bill, and on the academy. I'll be surprised if Warnock gets more than £500k to spend
joestrummer 30-09-2004, 06:48 warnock will get nothing from the share money..be very lucky to get 50k bigrods...
Robbie Loving 30-09-2004, 06:57 still trying to find out who this defender is LOL

I really hope we get to actually spend some of the 5 million-plus! According to the news the share issue value will raise £9m & will help bring players in to pay for higher wage bills

A.B.Yaffle 30-09-2004, 11:36 The Blades have just signed Leeds and Bradford striker Danny Cadamarteri for £50K. He doesn't seem to have scored many goals over the years, and he appears to be another player who has suffered a lot through injury!
Yes Patchy he has had a lot of injuries,it all started when he went to Everton & had bad luck with injuries ever since, but he is quick & has an eye for goal,so let's hope he can get fit & be free from injuries.UP THE BLADES
Robbie Loving 30-09-2004, 17:05 i knew when warnock said that "it would surprise a few people" about the signing of a striker, he would be right
downgrading the team is not the way forward
so much for the
"i will only bring in players who will improive the team" WHATEVER
Cadamatri was a promising young striker when he went to Everton, there was talk of him playing for England, but due to some bad injuries, his form & confidence went, but let's give the kid a chance he is only 24 & see how he does this could be a new start for him & a good signing for the Blades.
Robbie Loving 30-09-2004, 23:55 be realistic tosh
Leeds are not exactly tearing the league apart with goals at the moment, If Cadimatri was any good then surely he would be in their squad?.
I just hope that i am wrong.

be realistic tosh Fair enough R but like I said lets see if the kid works out,if not then we can say he was a waste of £50.000.Warnock has made some decent signings over the years & this could be another one,he is not going to buy a player who is totally knackered & yes he has made some poor signings, but if Caddy is better than Ward then he will be worth his money.Warnock is showing an interest in Chester Defender Danny Collins,he has been tracking him for some time.Morgan looks like being out of the Brighton clash & the new Italian defender could get a start.

I'm curious Robbie, what other reason is there for bringing a new player in?

he has not "improved" the team
What I cannot understand Robbie is Warnock, buys the Italian at 6' something & plays a midget at center half.No logic ,I phoned Neil & told him I am in a wheelchair so I am smaller than Wrighty,so will I make a good center half LOL.

yeah i know tosh, said this in other thread, just cant understand the logic in it
but he played today against weds in reserves
looks like sharp had a great game,
"Liddell supported and put in a pinpoint cross which was met by SHARP who steered an accurate header across Tidman into the far corner."
and
"Sharp had a great chance to wrap the game up when Hurst found him unmarked but he unaccountably made a poor contact with his header
But SHARP made amends in the 65th minute with a cracking goal to open up a 2-0 lead. Receiving the ball from Hurst's throw-in in the left-hand corner the busy striker turned his man and fired a glorious right-footed drive low past Tidman into the far corner."
A delighted Ron Reid said: "It was a very convincing, professional performance all round; two great goals from Sharp, a technically superior display and Wednesday were rarely able to really threaten us."
Owls: Tidman, Powell, Drury, Armstrong (Reet 71), Foster, Carr, Greenwood, Hamshaw (Brackenridge 71), Shaw, Olsen (Talbot 59), Cockerill.
Unused: Poulter, White
United: Barnes; Roma, McFadzean, Gabrieli, Horwood; Liddell (Ashmore 82), Harper, McCall, Hurst; Forte, Sharp.
Unused: Quinn, Marrison, Beanes, Binnion.
Scorer: Sharp (45, 65).
also nice to see liddell back playing, gabrielli clean sheet in first game, forte full 90 mins and sharp looking erm....... sharp
i know its only reserves
BUT THE FUTURES BRIGHT
THE FUTURES RED
Totally agree mate Liddell back, the difference he made when he came on against Brighton was great & I hope Warnock gives the Italian kid a go.We will never know how good he is or can be unless he gets a chance in the first team & that goes for the younger kids on the fringe of the 1st team.Is the Hurst kid a decent player then.

well he came on last few mins against coventry i think it was, and thought he was gonna pop a lucky one in,
noot seen him in action really, but he does seem to be of the better younger crop from reports i have heard`
A.B.Yaffle 07-10-2004, 14:43 According to Sky, Adie Williams from Reading has been linked with a move to the Blades.

see we are going for the "quality" players again,
DEAR ME
Warnock said on Teletext he was not interested in Williams & he's fed up with rumours set about by the players agents.
Robbie Loving 08-10-2004, 09:56 he has admitted to liking that halford, seems a decent young player, and if he was brought in we could get rid of wright
OH THE DAY
