JOBS will be axed and services reduced at Sheffield Children's Hospital after cash-strapped bosses revealed they have to save millions of pounds.
A total of £9 million has to be cut from the hospital's annual budget of £100 million over the next three years, it has been revealed
Worst hit is the hospital's Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service unit, where the budget is being cut by 20 per cent meaning a reduction of nursing staff and the loss of a therapist.
In some other departments, staff who leave are not being replaced and the number of youngsters treated as outpatients is to be increased.
Efficiency savings include using cheaper products, withdrawing meal subsidies for staff, greater energy efficiency and cutting back on use of maintenance staff out of normal working.

Any cut to children's and adolescents' mental health provision will mean far far greater costs further down the line (minus the sympathy from the general public).

Seems like a fair idea, but one match won't save the unit longterm

well seen as there aint a derby, and hopefully next year labour can get their f£$$% a£$% into gear, today i had a survey sent through post asking fixed questions about how they could improve my gp, well for starters im not at that gp anymore, 2nd fixed questions with fixed answers are a bit pointless, 3rd the cost of survey could be used to pay for health care!
isnt there too many bureacrats in the nhs that don't need to be, im sure soon it will be full of highly paid managers who say "sorry no health care available here, as we cant afford healthcare staff" (when some managers wage would pay for a doctor and 2 nurses a porter and cleaner/more)
