Just wondering if anyone else has used the Sirdar Loopa for making scarves? I bought one the other day (£1.50 from John Lewis) and it is so simple :D !!! Lots quicker than knitting or crocheting. I made the scarf in a couple hours and planning to make another one this week too.

I had a Loopa (I think it was a mini one) which came free with a knitting magazine. It is a lot quicker than knitting or crochet, but then again it's a completely different technique. I could be wrong, because I didn't try it, but I think you can only produce one type of scarf with it (a loopy one). It's great for what it does, if you're after that look of scarf, but it wouldn't replace knitting. But then again, I would say that  .

Yes, that sounds a similar thing, it's like big loops held together with a chain stitchdown the middle. The one I bought is like a 'U' shaped piece of plastic, about 8 inches wide so it makes a substantial scarf - very warm. There is a trick in using it though, you have to remember to backstitch down the chains as you are doing it - I didn't with my original one and I've spent ages going over it and trying to sew only on the chains. I know better now though. The scarves are fun tho  !

Just finished my second scarf and it was so much easier to stitch whilst on the loopa plastic thingummybob! I just backstitched it on the back of the chain stitches as it was easier to see wihout all the loops in the way. It has made it a bit shorter as I think I did the stitches a bit tighter, but still nice and warm. Now the hardest part is getting going again after taking off what has just been done!!

Think I might try one in that WOW (??) velvet type wool next but not sure what to add with it yet, but it will be a much shorter one as this is a very expensive wool as far as I can remember.
