Not heard anyone mention Sola Bar for a while.

Does anyone know if it's still open?

Also - does anyone know if Qube is open yet?

I read a post on here recently that made me wonder this...

I like sola structurally as a bar, it's a great room. When it first opened the chef there was superb and i've waxed lyrical about his creme brulee before... you got Corrie Stars being your waitress, then the next guy got it then the comedy nights held there were great, never quite the same at Takkypunnani. Then someone else took over and it went rapidly downhill...

Then Vinny got it.
I pmed Vinny about my feelings about the initial standards there ... and then didn't go again (I have nothing against him by the way :) ) .

I'd like sola to do well as a bar. I like wig and pen, like Boho but there just needs to be that third bar down there to make me frequent that area for just drinks. Although the beautiful people have moved on to whereever this week, that's no reason why it can't get the solicitior crowd during the day and the wig and pen, boho lot at night.

It was closed a couple of weeks ago when i went down. I hope it hasn't shut down for good, i used to like it in there.

there is the sanctuary in the vicinity, lovely place, i do believe this could be the new area of not only culinary delights but open minded music policies and nice people to boot. it is a lovely area and with leopold sq soon to be on its feet, i think it will push more trade into the area, saying that hope its the right crowd.

Thats a shame if SOla is closed .. it was good - can someone please confirm ?

Sola has been like this for a while, sometimes it was open, other nights it wasn't. We used to get people coming in boho saying "Sola advertised this night, and we went and it was shut up", it seemed to happen on a fairly regular basis - I guess if it was quiet they shut up shop to save money, and consequentially people stopped going and things went down hill.

I don't know if this is the case now, or whether it has finally gone bust... but it needs somebody like Fab to turn it around. Somebody with a lot of skill and personality and it needs to fit in with the likes of boho and the Wig & Pen to work... to be quite frank when they started doing Burlesque nights you knew it was going to go down hill.

As for QUBE who knows if something is going to happen... there's been signs advertising it up for about 9 months now but it doesn't look if it's any closer to opening. Suspect it's a non-started and nobody has taken the posters down.
